Asara Resources Unveils High-Grade Gold in Southern Massan Extension

Asara Resources has reported standout assay results from new drilling at the southern edge of its Massan Deposit in Guinea, highlighting broad and high-grade gold mineralisation that could boost the project’s resource base ahead of an August update.

  • Significant gold intercepts in previously underexplored southern Massan extension
  • Highlight includes 47m at 8.0 g/t Au with an 8m interval grading 42.2 g/t Au
  • Two consecutive 1m intervals exceeding 130 g/t Au in a single hole
  • Drilling ongoing with multiple rigs ahead of August 2026 resource update
  • Results reinforce potential for resource growth at flagship Kada Gold Project

Southern Massan Extension Yields Exceptional Gold Grades

Asara Resources (ASX:AS1) has struck gold in a big way at the southern fringes of its Massan Deposit within the Kada Gold Project in Guinea. New assay results from the company’s maiden drilling campaign in this previously under-drilled area reveal broad zones of mineralisation peppered with eye-catching high-grade shoots.

Among the standout intercepts is drill hole MSRC26-167, which returned 47 metres at 8.0 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, including a blistering 8 metres at 42.2 g/t. This hole also featured two back-to-back one-metre intervals exceeding 130 g/t, underscoring the presence of exceptional gold concentrations. These results complement a prior hole located about 500 metres along strike that recorded over 150 g/t gold for one metre, suggesting a continuous high-grade corridor.

Expanding the Resource Footprint Southwards

The southern extension has long been a target for Asara, but access issues delayed systematic drilling until recently. Following a farm compensation program, the company deployed a suite of reverse circulation, diamond, and air core rigs to test the area. The initial tranche of 57 holes totalling over 7,100 metres has confirmed that significant mineralisation extends well beyond the current resource core.

Other notable results include a 66-metre intercept at 0.7 g/t gold and a 19-metre zone grading 2.1 g/t, both containing higher-grade sub-intervals. These broad but consistent grades, combined with the high-grade pockets, highlight the southern extension’s potential to materially add ounces to the existing 923,000-ounce Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) reported last year.

Operational Momentum Builds Ahead of Resource Update

Asara’s Managing Director Matthew Sharples described the results as an “important milestone,” surpassing expectations for this long-awaited southern fence line drilling. He emphasised that the findings reinforce confidence in resource growth potential at Massan and validate the company’s interpretation that this area was significantly under-drilled.

Drilling is continuing in earnest with three reverse circulation rigs, one combined RC/air core rig, and a diamond drill rig active on site. The company aims to complete as many holes as possible before an internal cutoff to feed into an updated MRE scheduled for August 2026.

Strategic Focus on Kada Amid Portfolio Streamlining

Asara holds a 75% interest in the Kada Project, having exercised rights to increase its stake by funding a Definitive Feasibility Study. The project’s geology is consistent with major West African orogenic gold deposits, featuring structurally controlled quartz veining and sulphide mineralisation. The company is also pursuing divestment of its Chilean copper-silver-lead-zinc asset to concentrate resources on Kada’s development.

While the drilling results are promising, it’s worth noting that true widths of mineralisation remain to be confirmed, and ongoing drilling may refine the geological model. The upcoming resource update will be a key event to watch, potentially reshaping market perceptions of the project’s scale and value.

Bottom Line?

Asara’s latest drilling at Massan’s southern extension delivers compelling high-grade gold zones, setting the stage for a potentially significant resource upgrade in August.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will the August resource update quantify the impact of these southern extension intercepts?
  • What is the potential for further high-grade shoots beyond the current southern drilling fence lines?
  • How might ongoing drilling results influence Asara’s development timeline and capital requirements?
