Flynn Gold has launched a comprehensive reinterpretation of historical geophysical data at its Firetower Project, aiming to uncover new gold-tungsten-copper targets along a largely untested 6-kilometre mineralised corridor. Completion is set for Q4 2026.
- Resource Potentials engaged for advanced geophysical reinterpretation
- 6km mineralised corridor largely untested by drilling
- Study to generate new high-priority exploration targets
- Completion expected in Q4 2026
- Firetower hosts polymetallic gold-tungsten-copper mineralisation
Project-Wide Geophysical Reinterpretation Underway
Flynn Gold (ASX:FG1) is turning to cutting-edge geophysical technology to unlock the full potential of its Firetower Gold-Tungsten-Copper Project in northern Tasmania. The company has engaged Resource Potentials Pty Ltd, a leading Australian geophysical consultancy, to reprocess and reinterpret historical geophysical datasets across the entire 6-kilometre mineralised corridor stretching between the Firetower West and Firetower East prospects.
The initiative reflects a strategic pivot beyond the current drilling focus, which has so far tested less than 5% of this extensive corridor. Flynn’s Managing Director Neil Marston emphasised that while drilling has concentrated on the Firetower deposit itself, this represents only a fraction of a much larger and largely untested mineralised system.
Historical Data Revisited with Modern Tools
Resource Potentials will apply the latest processing software to a suite of historical geophysical surveys, including airborne magnetic, radiometric, induced polarisation (IP), and electromagnetic (EM) data. The goal is to generate high-level interpretations and prioritise new target areas for follow-up exploration and drilling.
Previous IP surveys have already hinted at a continuous zone of mineralisation, particularly between the Firetower and Firetower East prospects, with sub-surface gold-tungsten mineralisation spatially associated with high chargeability zones extending several kilometres along strike. However, drilling outside the immediate Firetower area remains very limited, leaving significant upside potential if new targets can be identified.
Firetower Project’s Strategic Position
Located within the Mt Read Volcanics, one of Australia’s premier volcanic-hosted mineral provinces, Firetower is an advanced-stage polymetallic project with gold, tungsten, and copper mineralisation. Flynn Gold acquired the project in 2023, which has a pedigree of ownership by major mining and exploration companies including CRA Exploration and Greatland Gold.
This reinterpretation study comes amid Flynn Gold’s ongoing efforts to define and expand mineralisation at Firetower, following recent drilling campaigns that have extended high-grade polymetallic zones and supported plans for a maiden Mineral Resource estimate. The study’s expected completion in Q4 2026 will provide a fresh lens on the project’s exploration potential, potentially guiding the next phase of drilling beyond the current footprint.
Bottom Line?
The reinterpretation could redefine Firetower’s exploration roadmap, but its impact hinges on the quality of new targets and subsequent drilling outcomes.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the reinterpretation identify targets that materially extend known mineralisation?
- How will new targets influence the timing and scale of future drilling programs?
- Could this study reshape the valuation and strategic positioning of Firetower within Flynn’s portfolio?
