High-Grade Gold Emerges at Quinn Fluorspar Project

OD6 Metals (ASX:OD6) has unexpectedly expanded the narrative at its Quinn Fluorspar Project in Nevada with the discovery of significant gold mineralisation. Rock chip and channel samples have returned assays up to 6.31 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, alongside multiple samples exceeding 0.5g/t Au, marking a notable first for modern gold exploration in the area.

This discovery adds a new dimension to Quinn, which was originally targeted for its high-grade fluorspar deposits. The gold mineralisation is spatially distinct from the fluorspar, preserving the integrity of the latter while opening a parallel avenue for value creation in a world-class mining jurisdiction.

A Large and Fertile Epithermal Gold System Unveiled

Geological and geochemical data reveal an extensive epithermal alteration system stretching over 8 kilometres, with gold and pathfinder elements such as arsenic and mercury anomalous across multiple zones including Mammoth, North Horseshoe Canyon, and Dress Circle. Soil assays have returned gold values up to 77 parts per billion (ppb) and pathfinder elements at levels consistent with evolved acidic magmatic systems.

OD6's principal component analysis combining gold with epithermal pathfinders highlights a robust geochemical footprint, suggesting a fertile mineral system capable of hosting significant gold deposits. The presence of Pogonip limestones, Simonson dolomite, jasperoid replacement beds, and the Saw Mill Thrust fault, potentially analogous to the Roberts Mountain Thrust, provides a compelling geological framework for Carlin-style mineralisation.

This type of gold system is characterised by fine-grained, often invisible gold associated with carbonate rocks, and has been responsible for over 160 million ounces of gold production in Nevada. While Quinn is not located on the main Carlin trends, its proximity to the Alligator Ridge trend and analogous geology warrant further investigation.

OD6 remains committed to advancing its core fluorspar assets at Mammoth, Horseshoe, and Big Jim, which have demonstrated very high-grade fluorspar mineralisation suitable for Metspar and premium Acidspar products. The United States’ 100% reliance on fluorspar imports underscores the strategic importance of Quinn’s fluorspar resources.

Simultaneously, the company plans to integrate gold assays into ongoing exploration programs, with further geological modelling, structural mapping, and drill targeting underway.
