Parabellum Reports $431K Loss and Confirms Nickel-Cobalt Potential at NSW Project

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

Parabellum Resources (ASX:PBL) trimmed its annual loss to $431,624 as it completed a key drilling phase at its NSW nickel-cobalt project, setting the stage for an inaugural Mineral Resource Estimate.

  • Annual loss reduced from $1.49 million to $431,624
  • Phase 3 drilling confirms shallow nickel-cobalt mineralisation at Miandetta
  • Exploration target estimated at 10-17 million tonnes grading 0.8-0.9% nickel
  • First Mineral Resource Estimate underway for Redlands-Miandetta
  • Cash reserves stand at $841,472 with no dividends declared

Financial Performance Shows Improvement

Parabellum Resources Limited (ASX:PBL) reported a consolidated loss after tax of $431,624 for the 2026 financial year, a marked improvement from the previous year’s loss of $1.49 million. The reduction reflects tighter cost control and the absence of significant impairments, with corporate expenses slightly lower at $465,936. Despite the loss, the company maintains a healthy cash position of $841,472, down from $1.43 million at the prior year-end.

Nickel-Cobalt Exploration Advances at Miandetta

The company’s exploration focus remains on its New South Wales projects, particularly the Redlands Project covering 690 square kilometres. Within this, the Miandetta prospect has emerged as the primary target for nickel and cobalt mineralisation. Parabellum completed a Phase 3 drilling program in December 2025, comprising 26 holes and 968 metres of Air Core and Reverse Circulation drilling. The program confirmed the presence of shallow, continuous higher-grade nickel-cobalt mineralisation within an oxide profile up to 43 metres thick.

This latest drilling phase reinforced earlier results from Phases 1 and 2, validating the prospect’s potential for economic extraction. The ultramafic host rocks exhibit a strong magnetic signature, aiding in targeting and resource delineation.

Exploration Target and Resource Estimation Efforts

Parabellum has defined an Exploration Target for Miandetta-Redlands of between 10 and 17 million tonnes grading 0.8% to 0.9% nickel and 0.04% to 0.05% cobalt, prepared under the JORC Code (2012). The company cautions that this target remains conceptual, with insufficient drilling to classify a Mineral Resource at this stage.

In June 2026, Parabellum engaged a specialist consultancy to produce its first Mineral Resource Estimate for the Redlands-Miandetta area, a critical step towards advancing the project towards development. This move follows the positive drilling results and aims to provide a formal resource classification that could underpin future feasibility studies.

Corporate Governance and Board Stability

The board remained stable throughout the year, with all three directors, Peter Ruse (Non-Executive Chairman), Fabio Vergara (Non-Executive Director), and Shaun Menezes (Non-Executive Director, CFO, and Company Secretary), attending all board meetings. Governance practices align substantially with ASX Corporate Governance Council recommendations, reflecting a commitment to transparency and accountability.

Operational and Financial Risks Remain

Parabellum’s annual report highlights the inherent risks of mineral exploration, including the uncertainty of locating economically viable deposits and the need for additional funding to progress exploration and potential development. The company notes that government regulations, global economic conditions, and commodity price fluctuations could all impact future operations.

No significant changes in the state of affairs or material events after the reporting period were noted, and no dividends were declared, consistent with the company’s early-stage exploration status.

Bottom Line?

Parabellum’s narrowing losses and advancing nickel-cobalt exploration at Miandetta position it for a potentially pivotal resource upgrade, but funding and operational risks remain key hurdles.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the upcoming Mineral Resource Estimate at Miandetta convert the Exploration Target into a JORC-compliant resource?
  • How will Parabellum manage capital requirements to sustain exploration and potential project development?
  • What is the company’s strategy for expanding its project pipeline beyond NSW nickel-cobalt assets?
