Vantage Metals (ASX: VAN) has kicked off drilling at its Kalahari Copper Project in Botswana following a comprehensive airborne electromagnetic survey, while high-grade polymetallic assays emerge from its Argentine TMT Project. The company also raised A$6 million from strategic investors and rebranded from BRX to VAN.
- Airborne electromagnetic survey defines drill targets at Kalahari Copper Project
- High-grade silver-zinc-copper-gold mineralisation confirmed at Toro Central, Argentina
- A$6 million placement secured from three strategic investors
- Drilling contract awarded to Rots Drill Exploration, rig mobilised
- Company changes name to Vantage Metals, ends quarter with A$2.46 million cash
Drilling Commences at Kalahari Copper Project After Advanced Geophysical Survey
Vantage Metals Limited (ASX:VAN) has transitioned from exploration preparation to active drilling at its flagship Kalahari Copper Project (KCP) in Botswana. The company completed a state-of-the-art airborne electromagnetic (AEM) survey over key tenements PL0773 and PL2743, targeting a carbonaceous horizon within the D’Kar Formation, an established geological control for copper mineralisation.
The AEM survey, leveraging the Spectrem Plus Time Domain system, mapped conductors to depths exceeding 700 metres and refined the interpretation of the prospective Ngwako Pan Formation and D’Kar Formation contact. This work identified multiple high-priority targets at drillable depths, overcoming previous challenges posed by extensive dolerite dyke swarms obscuring magnetic signatures.
Complementing the geophysical data, Vantage completed an ionic soil geochemical sampling program over selected areas, designed to detect mobile ions migrating from buried mineralisation beneath thick Kalahari sand cover. Results from this sampling are anticipated in the third quarter of 2026.
Following a competitive tender process, Vantage awarded the initial drilling contract to Rots Drill Exploration, a Major Drilling affiliate, offering operational scale and technical expertise. The first rig has since mobilised to site, marking the commencement of the drilling campaign on PL0773.
High-Grade Polymetallic Assays Highlight Progress at TMT Project, Argentina
Meanwhile, at the TMT Project in Argentina's San Juan Province, Vantage continued its 2025-2026 drilling season focused on the Toro Central prospect. Assays from diamond drill hole TMT-TC-DDH-004 delivered narrow but significant polymetallic intersections, including 1.75 metres grading 312 g/t silver, 25.4% zinc, 2.24% copper, and 0.17 g/t gold from 216.25 metres, alongside a 7-metre copper-rich interval at deeper levels.
These results build on previously reported high-grade zones and reinforce the structural control interpretation of epithermal silver-zinc-copper-gold mineralisation. While the recent holes have not replicated the exceptional grades from earlier drill hole TMT-TC-DDH-002, ongoing drilling continues to delineate the broader mineralised system.
Exploration at Tambo South has identified copper porphyry potential from MT/IP geophysical surveys, with further field mapping planned to refine drill targets for the 2026/2027 season. Conversely, drilling at Toro South intersected alteration and sulphides but failed to deliver significant mineralisation in recent holes.
Corporate Moves: A$6 Million Raised and Rebranding to Vantage Metals
On the corporate front, Vantage Metals secured A$6 million through two placements priced at A$0.06 per share, attracting three strategic investors: Argentina’s Integra Capital, Swiss-based Jose Luis Manzano, and Magnus Capital. Each investor acquired up to a 10.12% stake, underscoring confidence in the company’s exploration pipeline.
The funds are earmarked for advancing drilling and geophysical programs at KCP and ongoing geological work at the TMT Project, alongside general working capital. The company ended the quarter with a cash balance of A$2.46 million and zero debt, with an additional A$1 million receivable pending shareholder approval.
Following shareholder endorsement, the company rebranded from Blackrock Resources (ASX:BRX) to Vantage Metals Limited (ASX:VAN) on 17 July 2026, reflecting a sharper focus on its metals exploration portfolio.
Board Changes and Outlook
Non-executive director Tim Zuo resigned effective 28 June 2026. The company plans to appoint a nominee director from Integra Capital, one of its new strategic investors, signaling deeper investor involvement in governance.
Exploration expenditure for the quarter was approximately A$4.47 million, predominantly allocated to drilling, earthworks, and geological support at the TMT Project. Vantage anticipates a reduction in quarterly exploration costs moving forward as focus shifts to Botswana, where operational costs are comparatively lower.
With drilling underway in Botswana and promising assay results in Argentina, Vantage Metals is poised to advance its exploration agenda. Upcoming assay releases, drilling updates, and the strategic investor director appointment will be key developments to monitor.
Bottom Line?
Vantage Metals is actively progressing exploration with drilling underway in Botswana and high-grade assays from Argentina, supported by a solid A$6 million capital raise and strategic partnerships.
Questions in the middle?
- Will drilling at Kalahari Copper Project confirm the geophysical targets as economically viable copper deposits?
- How will the appointment of a strategic investor nominee director influence Vantage Metals’ governance and strategic direction?
- Can the company sustain its exploration momentum and funding beyond the current cash runway given its aggressive drilling programs?
