Nordic Resources Confirms Record Gold Grades and Expands Finnish Resource to 1.23Moz AuEq
Nordic Resources (ASX:NNL) has reported final assays from its 1H 2026 drilling in Finland, revealing record gold grades at Kopsa and significant resource extensions across its key gold projects. Metallurgical testing is underway, with updated resource estimates expected later this year.
- Record 105.5g/t gold assay at Kopsa northern zone
- 1.23 million ounces gold equivalent resource across three Finnish projects
- Significant mineralisation extensions beyond current resource boundaries
- Metallurgical test results due in August to inform resource updates
- Pulju nickel-copper project Ionic Leach survey commenced
Kopsa Drilling Sets New Gold Grade Benchmark
Nordic Resources has hit a new high-water mark for gold grades at its Kopsa gold-copper project in Finland, with a stunning 1.2-metre intercept assaying 105.5 grams per tonne gold. This record assay comes from the northern stockwork zone, an area previously untested except for one discovery hole, and underscores the potential for high-grade extensions outside the current resource model.
The broader 71-metre intersection hosting this high-grade core averaged 2.90g/t gold and 0.13% copper, translating to 3.04g/t gold equivalent. These results, reported during the June quarter, extend mineralisation well beyond the existing block model and hint at deeper continuity suggested by geophysical EM plates. Downhole EM surveys are planned to refine targeting ahead of the next drilling campaign set to restart in August.
Resource Inventory Now 1.23Moz AuEq Across Finland Projects
Nordic’s combined gold equivalent resource inventory across its three Finland gold projects; Kopsa, Kiimala Trend (including Angesneva), and Hirsikangas; now stands at 34.3 million tonnes grading 1.11g/t AuEq for 1.23 million ounces AuEq. This includes 1.04 million ounces of contained gold and 38,000 tonnes of copper, with 66% of ounces classified as Measured and Indicated, providing a solid foundation for future development.
All three deposits start from surface, offering potential for open-pit mining, and sit within the Middle Ostrobothnia Gold Belt, a prolific gold province structurally linked to major regional trends. The proximity of two existing processing plants within 120 kilometres adds optionality for near-term production scenarios.
Kiimala and Angesneva Confirm Strike Extensions and New Prospects
At the Kiimala Trend, drilling confirmed mineralisation extending beyond previous limits at the Angesneva deposit, with one hole testing 10-25 metres north of the existing resource boundary returning strong gold-copper-silver intersections. Meanwhile, the Vesipera prospect, adjacent to Angesneva, yielded shallow, high-grade gold zones consistent with historical data, supporting plans for a maiden JORC-compliant resource later in 2026.
Metallurgical Testing to Inform Updated Resource Estimates
A detailed metallurgical test program at Kopsa, ongoing since December 2025, aims to optimise processing options and recovery rates. Results are expected in August and will feed into updated Mineral Resource Estimates for Kopsa and Angesneva scheduled for release later this year. These updates are eagerly anticipated, given the recent step-out drilling success and record grades.
Pulju Nickel-Copper Project Advances with Ionic Leach Survey
Beyond gold, Nordic has initiated an Ionic LeachTM geochemical survey at its Pulju nickel-copper project in the Central Lapland Greenstone Belt. This survey targets known nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation and structural traps to prioritise drill targets. Pulju hosts one of Europe’s largest undeveloped nickel-cobalt resources, with disseminated sulphides grading 0.21% nickel and promising metallurgical test results supporting concentrate production.
Financial Position Supports Ongoing Exploration
Nordic ended the quarter with A$8.48 million in cash, having spent A$2.12 million on exploration activities including drilling and assays. Administrative and corporate costs were modest at A$337,000. The company remains well funded to advance its Finnish gold and nickel projects through the remainder of 2026.
Bottom Line?
With record grades and resource extensions confirmed, Nordic’s upcoming metallurgical results and resource updates will be key milestones shaping the development path of its Finnish gold portfolio.
Questions in the middle?
- How will the upcoming metallurgical test results influence processing strategies at Kopsa?
- What potential does the Pulju Ionic Leach survey hold for defining new high-grade nickel targets?
- To what extent can the recent step-out drilling at Kopsa and Angesneva expand the current resource base?
