Yidby Loot Prospect Yields High-Grade Gold Samples

Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN) has added a fresh chapter to its exploration story with a new discovery at the Yidby Gold Project. The recently identified Loot Prospect delivered surface float samples grading up to 13.19 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, establishing a minimum strike length of 200 metres. This discovery is notable for its high-grade gold mineralisation hosted within a distinctive Albitite lithology, a sodic metasomatic rock that forms along hydrothermal fluid pathways and structural corridors. The company’s use of inverted gravity geophysics has further highlighted the prospect’s potential, revealing gravity low anomalies coincident with both the historic Cashens open pit and Loot itself, alongside three unnamed target areas yet to be explored.

These findings underscore the potential for down-dip and strike extensions of mineralisation, setting the stage for follow-up surface sampling and eventual drilling campaigns. The Loot Prospect's Albitite host rock is comparable to other significant Western Australian gold deposits, suggesting a promising exploration corridor. Surefire has engaged Terra Resources to undertake a comprehensive project review, including database reconciliation and refinement, to better understand and prioritise targets within the Yidby tenements.

Victory Bore Signs Strategic Agreement with Australian Flow Batteries

On the critical minerals front, Surefire has taken a strategic step forward by signing a Heads of Agreement with Australian Flow Batteries (AFB), a Western Australian company specialising in long-duration energy storage solutions. Under this agreement, Surefire will supply a representative concentrate sample from its Victory Bore vanadiferous titanomagnetite deposit for hydrometallurgical testwork using AFB’s proprietary vanadium recovery process. This collaboration aims to evaluate vanadium, titanium dioxide, and iron recovery performance, providing key data to inform downstream processing pathways and potential integration into Australia's emerging sovereign supply chain for vanadium flow batteries.

Victory Bore is among Australia's largest known vanadium, titanium, and iron resources, boasting a JORC Mineral Resource Estimate of 464 million tonnes grading 0.3% V2O5, 5.12% TiO2, and 17.7% Fe, alongside a probable Ore Reserve of 93 million tonnes. Metallurgical testwork has confirmed the ability to produce a high-grade magnetite concentrate with clean iron, vanadium pentoxide, and titanium dioxide grades, positioning the project well for future beneficiation and processing. Surefire is progressing its mining lease application and continues to engage with potential strategic partners to advance the project.

Kadji Gold Project Resampling Under Review

At the Kadji Gold Project, Surefire revisited four historical bulk leach extractable gold (BLEG) anomalies originally identified by BHP in the 1980s. Despite collecting 20 new samples across these locations, the resampling returned no significant gold or silver results. The company is investigating whether discrepancies stem from historical grid location errors or differences in sampling methodologies, the original samples involved larger 3kg collections versus 400g in the current program. While these initial results are inconclusive, Surefire stresses the validity of the historical data given the volume of assays and plans further sampling and analysis in the coming quarter.

Financial Position and Outlook

Financially, Surefire reported exploration and evaluation expenditure of $44,000 for the June 2026 quarter and payments to related parties totaling $89,000, primarily for director remuneration. The company recorded a net operating cash outflow of $311,000 during the quarter, ending with cash and cash equivalents of $696,000. Surefire maintains a loan facility of $1.71 million, with $580,000 drawn down during the quarter, supporting ongoing exploration and development activities.

Looking ahead, Surefire’s focus remains on advancing its key projects, particularly progressing the Victory Bore mining lease application and integrating metallurgical test results from the AFB collaboration into its prefeasibility study. The company also aims to resolve the Kadji sampling uncertainties and continue exploration at Yidby, leveraging high-resolution geophysics and further sampling to refine targets.

Bottom Line?

Surefire’s new gold discovery and strategic partnership signal progress, but funding and exploration execution remain key to watch.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will metallurgical test results from Australian Flow Batteries influence Victory Bore’s development timeline?
  • Can Surefire resolve the Kadji sampling discrepancies to unlock that project’s potential?
  • Will the company secure additional funding to sustain exploration beyond its current cash runway?
