West Desert Drilling Unveils Exceptional Indium and Critical Metals

American West Metals has delivered a standout quarter with its West Desert Project in Utah revealing a continuous 108.4-metre intercept of high-grade indium mineralisation, alongside significant zinc, gold, and silver grades. Drill hole WD26-01, positioned some 400 metres east of the existing resource, returned assays including 57.8 metres at 33.3g/t indium and 2.1% zinc, with peak zones hitting 140.5g/t indium and 4.79g/t gold. This discovery extends the known mineralised system and validates the geological model underpinning a 4-kilometre magnetic anomaly.

Further drilling has expanded the strike of mineralisation to over 1.6 kilometres, with WD26-03 intersecting thick visual zones of zinc, lead, and molybdenite sulphides. Meanwhile, WD26-02 uncovered a separate prospective trend 350 metres southeast of the main deposit, confirming fault-hosted critical metals including gallium and germanium, which are strategic for US supply chains.

Historical Core and Mine Dumps Highlight Resource Expansion Potential

Resampling of historical drill core from past programs has confirmed very high grades of critical metals such as up to 155g/t indium, 40.4g/t gallium, and 1,065g/t silver, suggesting substantial upside to the current JORC Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE). Notably, only 35% of historical samples were assayed for indium, indicating the potential for a significant resource upgrade.

Sampling of historical mine waste dumps revealed exceptional grades, including 1,807g/t silver, 176.5g/t indium, and 2.26% copper, alongside base metals zinc and lead exceeding 24% and 31% respectively. These stockpiles represent a potential near-term resource, especially given advances in processing technology and federal incentives for mine reclamation.

Storm Copper Project Advances Pre-Feasibility and Permitting

In Nunavut, Canada, the Storm Copper Project is progressing steadily toward completion of its Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS), with external engineering consultants Sacre Davey, Ausenco, and the Nuna Group finalising process plant optimisation, mine planning, and cost estimates. The project’s permitting process is advancing, with the mine permit application approved for submission to the Nunavut Impact Review Board and targeting regulatory approval by 2028.

Exploration targeting is expanding across a 110-kilometre prospective copper belt, with new structural and geochemical analyses planned to enhance the pipeline of drill targets. The Nunavut Government’s approval of CA$100,000 funding for community engagement underscores the project’s regional importance.

Capital Raise Strengthens Financial Position

American West Metals completed a heavily oversubscribed $10 million placement to institutional and professional investors at $0.045 per share, issuing free options on a one-for-two basis. The funds will underpin ongoing drilling at West Desert and the completion of the Storm Copper PFS. The company ended the quarter with $8.9 million in cash and no debt, with operating cash outflows of $5.2 million reflecting active exploration and study work.
