Magnetic Surveys Uncover Large-Scale Targets in Saudi Arabia
Resource Minerals International Ltd (ASX:RMI) has completed detailed ground magnetic surveys over its Wadi Salamah and Shaib Marqan projects in central Saudi Arabia, identifying multiple high-priority target zones for copper-molybdenum and gold-silver mineralisation. At Wadi Salamah, a 1,010 line-kilometre survey covering nearly 99 square kilometres revealed two massive, deep-seated magnetic anomalies spanning about 16 square kilometres. These are interpreted as large intrusive bodies prospective for porphyry copper-molybdenum deposits, a style known for hosting Tier-1 mineral systems.
The survey also delineated six major regional fault structures linked to the prolific Najd Fault System corridor, with three priority zones earmarked for follow-up exploration and drilling. The northern sector targets polymetallic mineralisation associated with intrusive contacts, while the southern sector focuses on structurally controlled gold mineralisation along fault zones, including areas with historic artisanal workings.
Shaib Marqan Defines Gold Targets with Structural Controls
At the Shaib Marqan project, covering 91.8 square kilometres about 240 kilometres southwest of Riyadh, magnetic data identified seven major fault systems controlling gold mineralisation. Strong spatial correlation exists between magnetic anomalies and previously reported high-grade surface gold samples reaching up to 40.35 grams per tonne. Four priority target zones have been defined, focusing on structurally controlled quartz-vein and lode gold-silver mineralisation. Follow-up geological mapping and rock chip sampling are underway, with a 5,000 metre drilling program scheduled for Q3 2026.
Tanzanian Drilling Resumes After Contractor Change
Meanwhile, in Tanzania, RMI’s staged 2,500 metre reverse circulation drilling program at the 100%-owned Mpanda copper-gold project is progressing after a change in drilling contractors caused initial delays. The program targets five priority zones, including high-grade copper and gold anomalies with historical grab samples up to 13.58% copper and 3.24 g/t gold. A second phase of drilling is anticipated in Q3 2026. Sample assays from the current campaign are expected soon, which will be critical in validating these targets.
Capital Raise Fuels Exploration and Working Capital
To fund these activities, RMI successfully raised $3.5 million through a share placement at $0.04 per share, representing a near 7% discount to the last traded price before the trading halt. The placement attracted commitments from existing shareholders and new sophisticated investors, including $300,000 from Chairman Asimwe Kabunga and $100,000 from Non-Executive Director Trevor Matthews. The funds will support the combined 10,000 metres of drilling planned in Saudi Arabia, the ongoing Tanzanian drilling program, and general working capital.
Lithium Drilling in Finland Pending Regulatory Approval
In Finland, RMI’s lithium exploration at the Köyhäjoki permit remains on hold pending the provision of an acceptable security instrument to the mining regulator. The planned shallow drilling program of 123 holes targeting lithium-bearing pegmatite dykes was delayed by adverse weather and regulatory requirements but is expected to resume shortly.
Bottom Line?
RMI’s methodical approach to defining multi-commodity targets and securing funding sets the stage for a potentially transformative drilling season, though assay results and regulatory clearances remain pivotal near-term catalysts.
Questions in the middle?
- Will assay results from Mpanda confirm the high-grade copper-gold potential indicated by historical samples?
- How will the planned 10,000 metres of drilling in Saudi Arabia refine the understanding of porphyry and structurally controlled mineralisation?
- What impact will regulatory approvals in Finland have on RMI’s lithium exploration timeline and strategy?
