Saturn Metals has expanded its Apollo Hill gold resource to 2.83 million ounces, signed a key Native Title Mining Agreement, and advanced its Definitive Feasibility Study, while divesting non-core assets to sharpen focus on development.

  • Apollo Hill Mineral Resource grows 26% to 2.83Moz
  • Native Title Mining Agreement executed with Nyalpa Pirniku People
  • Ongoing high-grade drilling extends Titan Zone and northern resource
  • West Wyalong Project divested to Xpedra Resources with retained exposure
  • Cash position remains strong at $40.4 million

Apollo Hill Resource Expansion and Development Milestones

Saturn Metals (ASX:STN) has delivered a landmark quarter at its Apollo Hill Gold Project in Western Australia, announcing a 26% increase in its Mineral Resource to 2.83 million ounces. This growth, which adds 590,000 ounces to the previous tally, lifts the higher-confidence Measured and Indicated Resource to 2.19 million ounces, now representing 77% of the total resource. The update reinforces Apollo Hill’s standing as one of Australia’s largest undeveloped open-pit gold deposits and underpins the ongoing Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) scheduled for completion later this year.

The resource upgrade follows an extensive 367-hole drilling campaign, delivering an impressive 9.46 ounces of gold per metre drilled. Notably, recent drilling continues to reveal expansion potential, with mineralisation open in multiple directions. Saturn’s geological team has identified a new northern zone outside the current resource boundary, highlighted by exceptional intercepts such as 4 metres at 70.03 g/t gold, including a blistering 1 metre at 277 g/t.

Key Agreement with Native Title Holders Unlocks Development Pathway

A pivotal development this quarter was the execution of a Native Title Mining Agreement with the Wangkatja Tjungula Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC, representing the Nyalpa Pirniku People. This agreement clears a critical hurdle for Apollo Hill’s mining lease approvals and future tenement grants. It includes standard commercial terms such as milestone payments and production royalties, alongside cultural heritage protections and commitments to employment and business participation for the native title holders. The accord sets a collaborative foundation for the project’s exploration, development, and operational phases.

Drilling Extends High-Grade Zones and Resource Confidence

Drilling results during the quarter further bolstered Apollo Hill’s resource profile. The Titan Zone, a newly recognised mineralised centre approximately 200 metres north of the main deposit, continues to expand with high-grade, near-surface intercepts extending the strike length to about 350 metres. Highlights include 16 metres at 1.46 g/t gold, including 7 metres at 3.01 g/t, confirming Titan as a significant contributor to Apollo Hill’s growing footprint.

Infill drilling also supported resource confidence upgrades, feeding into the recent resource update. Meanwhile, extensional drilling north of the main deposit revealed bonanza-grade intercepts, opening a promising new exploration front. These results will inform the next resource update, maintaining momentum ahead of the DFS completion.

Strategic Divestment of West Wyalong Assets

Saturn Metals has sharpened its strategic focus by divesting its non-core West Wyalong Project in New South Wales to Xpedra Resources. The transaction, pending regulatory approvals, involves a modest cash component and a significant shareholding in Xpedra, allowing Saturn shareholders to retain upside exposure to West Wyalong and Xpedra’s broader NSW exploration portfolio. This move aligns with Saturn’s prioritisation of Apollo Hill’s development and resource growth.

Corporate and Financial Position

The company strengthened its board with the appointment of Warren Hallam, an experienced mining executive with over 35 years in the sector, adding technical and strategic expertise. Financially, Saturn remains well-funded with a cash balance of $40.4 million at quarter-end, supporting ongoing drilling, DFS activities, and permitting work.

Engineering studies for the DFS have passed the 30% completion gate, with metallurgical test work and geotechnical drilling progressing on schedule. Environmental surveys are near completion, and the company is on track to submit its environmental approval documents to the State Environmental Protection Authority in the coming quarter.

In parallel, a comprehensive 750 km2 ground gravity survey has been completed across Saturn’s land package, providing a high-resolution dataset to enhance exploration targeting through advanced spatial AI tools.

Bottom Line?

Saturn Metals is advancing Apollo Hill with robust resource growth and key agreements, setting the stage for a pivotal DFS and mining lease approvals later this year.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will upcoming DFS results impact Apollo Hill’s development timeline and capital requirements?
  • What exploration upside remains in the newly identified northern zones beyond the current resource?
  • How will Saturn’s retained shareholding in Xpedra Resources influence its exposure to NSW exploration success?
