TechGen Metals Advances with Drilling Approvals and $2.7M Capital Raise

Mining By Maxwell Dee 4 min read

TechGen Metals cleared key regulatory hurdles for drilling at its Blue Devil copper-gold project and reported promising assay results across multiple WA projects, supported by an oversubscribed $2.7 million placement.

  • Blue Devil and Red Devil drilling approvals secured
  • Strong assay results from Dalgaranga and Mt Boggola projects
  • Oversubscribed $2.7 million placement completed
  • Cash reserves at $2.48 million with pro forma $3.7 million
  • Multiple exploration programs planned for second half 2026

Drilling Greenlight at Blue Devil and Red Devil Targets

TechGen Metals (ASX:TG1) has cleared the final regulatory hurdle with Programme of Work (POW) approvals for drilling at its flagship Blue Devil and Red Devil copper-gold projects near Halls Creek, Western Australia. Earthworks are already underway in preparation for the maiden drilling campaigns, which will test high-priority geophysical and geochemical targets identified by previous surveys.

The Blue Devil project hosts multiple compelling targets, including three strong airborne electromagnetic (EM) conductors and a prominent magnetic intrusion. The Red Devil target stands out with a very strong chargeability anomaly detected by induced polarisation (IP) surveys, featuring a core zone approximately 175-225 metres below surface and 300 metres in vertical thickness. Surface rock chip samples from this corridor have yielded copper grades exceeding 50%, alongside gold assays above 5 g/t, underscoring the prospectivity of these undrilled zones.

These developments build on TechGen’s prior work, including extensive rock chip sampling and geophysical surveys, setting the stage for what the company describes as an “active second half” of 2026. The Blue Devil licences were granted in April, and the company’s Managing Director Ashley Hood noted that the POW approval “cleared the final regulatory hurdle” ahead of drilling.

Encouraging Gold and Base Metal Results at Dalgaranga and Mt Boggola

Beyond Blue Devil, TechGen reported assay results from its Dalgaranga gold project, located 475 kilometres northeast of Perth. Soil sampling (570 samples) identified multiple gold and volcanogenic massive sulphide (VHMS) base metal targets, while rock chip assays returned peak gold grades of 6.07 g/t and elevated arsenic values up to 1.94%. Although a moving-loop electromagnetic (MLEM) survey over the VHMS target area did not detect discrete bedrock conductors, an airborne magnetic survey was completed, with final data pending.

At the Mt Boggola project in the Ashburton Basin, assay results from a recent three-hole reverse circulation (RC) and diamond core drilling program confirmed significant polymetallic mineralisation. Notably, a 20-metre intersection grading 1.14% copper was recorded near surface in hole MBDD003, accompanied by lead assays exceeding 5% in narrow veins and silver grades up to 49.7 g/t. The presence of banded iron formation at depth explained magnetic anomalies, while widespread quartz veins and sulphide minerals including pyrite, galena, and chalcopyrite were logged, supporting the prospectivity of the IP chargeability targets MB1 to MB4.

Capital Raising Positions TechGen for Aggressive Exploration

TechGen’s exploration momentum is underpinned by a heavily oversubscribed $2.7 million placement, completed in two tranches, to fast-track drilling programs across its copper-gold and gold portfolio. The first tranche raised approximately $1.4 million and was settled in June, while the second tranche, raising about $1.3 million, awaits shareholder approval at the upcoming August general meeting. Pro forma cash reserves following tranche two would stand at $3.7 million, providing a solid financial runway.

The placement attracted strong institutional and sophisticated investor support, reflecting confidence in TechGen’s strategy and upcoming catalysts. The company also issued free attaching options exercisable at $0.036 each, expiring in September 2028, incentivising long-term shareholder participation.

Exploration Pipeline and Forward Plans

TechGen’s portfolio spans highly prospective geological terranes across Western Australia, including the Kimberley region, Yilgarn Craton, and Ashburton Basin. The company is advancing multiple projects simultaneously, with forward plans for the next quarter including drilling preparations at Blue Devil, finalising access and approvals at John Bull in New South Wales, interpreting airborne survey data at Dalgaranga, and ground truthing soil anomalies at El Donna ahead of planned RC drilling.

With drilling imminent at Blue Devil and Red Devil, and promising assay results bolstering confidence at Dalgaranga and Mt Boggola, TechGen is positioned for a potentially news-rich period. The company’s cash flow report indicates exploration expenditure of approximately $677,000 during the quarter, reflecting an intensification of field activities.

Bottom Line?

TechGen’s approved drilling programs and strong capital position set the stage for a pivotal exploration phase, with upcoming assay results likely to define the company’s near-term trajectory.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will maiden drilling at Blue Devil and Red Devil confirm the scale and grade suggested by surface sampling and geophysics?
  • How will the interpretation of Dalgaranga’s airborne magnetic data influence follow-up drilling targets?
  • What impact will shareholder approval of tranche two placement and options have on TechGen’s funding flexibility?
