GCM Signs 24-Month JDA and Doubles VHD Product Range

Technology By Sophie Babbage 3 min read

GCM Corporation has inked a two-year joint development deal with ALVC to integrate vapour chamber and VHD heat sink technologies, expanded its product line from 21 to 44 items, and recorded initial sales via DigiKey.

  • 24-month Joint Development Agreement with Shenzhen Wanwei (ALVC)
  • VHD heat sink product range doubled to 44
  • First product revenue recorded through DigiKey distribution
  • Targeting liquid cooling OEMs in AI server and data centre markets
  • Cash position stands at A$6.71 million at quarter-end

Strategic Joint Development Agreement with ALVC

GCM Corporation (ASX:GCM) has secured a binding 24-month Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with Shenzhen Wanwei Heat Conduction Technology Co., Ltd. (ALVC) to co-develop an integrated thermal management product. This collaboration combines ALVC's vapour chamber expertise with GCM’s Very High Density (VHD) heat sink technology, marking a significant endorsement of GCM’s proprietary materials. ALVC, a recognized player in thermal management solutions, selected GCM’s VHD heat sink after technical evaluations highlighted its superior heat dissipation, weight, and thermal efficiency compared to alternatives.

Under the agreement, ALVC will spearhead sales and marketing efforts for the integrated product, while GCM will exclusively supply the VHD heat sinks. This partnership not only leverages ALVC’s international market reach but also solidifies GCM’s position in the thermal management sector spanning data centres, high-performance computing, electric vehicles, and industrial electronics.

Product Range Expansion and Initial Revenue Milestone

During the June quarter, GCM doubled its VHD heat sink product offerings from 21 to 44, targeting air-cooled Ball Grid Array (BGA) devices widely used across computing, telecommunications, aerospace, and industrial applications. This expansion aligns with GCM’s strategy to address diverse thermal management challenges in high-demand sectors.

Notably, GCM recorded its first product revenue through initial orders from DigiKey, a global electronic components distributor. Although early sales volumes remain modest and not material to the company’s overall financials, DigiKey’s platform provides GCM with global exposure to engineers, designers, and procurement teams without the need for GCM to develop its own digital distribution infrastructure.

Targeting AI Servers and Hyperscale Data Centres

GCM has broadened its commercialisation strategy to focus on liquid cooling original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) serving AI servers and hyperscale data centres. Prototype design and manufacture of VHD components are underway, with ongoing engagements involving prototype design, engineering evaluation, and qualification testing. These efforts aim to secure design-in adoption, a critical step for deployment across multiple customer programs and data centre installations.

The company is actively engaging with a global liquid cooling OEM and pursuing opportunities across China, Europe, Korea, and the United States, reflecting a concerted push into high-growth thermal management markets driven by AI and data centre expansion.

Corporate Developments and Financial Position

On the corporate front, GCM appointed Michaela Stanton-Cook as Company Secretary, bringing over a decade of governance experience and legal expertise. Post-quarter, the company completed a 15-to-1 share consolidation to support a potential listing on a US national stock exchange, aiming to enhance capital access and market visibility.

GCM ended the quarter with a cash balance of A$6.71 million, supported by modest operating cash outflows and continued investment in product development and exploration activities. Exploration expenditure across its mineral projects totaled approximately A$124,000 for the quarter.

Payments to related parties, including directors, amounted to A$165,000 during the period, in line with standard corporate governance disclosures.

Bottom Line?

GCM’s multi-pronged approach; anchored by its ALVC partnership and expanding product portfolio; positions it to capitalize on growing thermal management demand, but commercial traction and US listing progress will be key near-term milestones.

Questions in the middle?

  • How quickly will the ALVC partnership translate into meaningful revenue streams?
  • Can GCM’s expanded VHD product range gain significant OEM design wins in AI and data centre markets?
  • What is the timeline and impact of GCM’s planned US stock exchange listing on its capital strategy?
