Patriot Resources significantly upgraded its silver-gold Exploration Target at Tassa in Peru and confirmed a high-grade copper discovery at its Tonic prospect in Zambia, while securing strategic capital and advancing community agreements.

  • Tassa Silver-Gold Exploration Target upgraded to 559-774Moz AgEq
  • New high-grade copper-silver-zinc-cobalt discovery at Zambia's Tonic prospect
  • Completed $500,000 strategic placement at 28% premium with Next Investors
  • Ongoing community engagement critical for drilling at Tassa
  • Divestment process underway for Gorman Lithium project in Canada

Tassa Silver-Gold Exploration Target Expanded

Patriot Resources (ASX:PAT) has more than doubled the potential scale of its flagship Tassa Silver-Gold deposit in Peru, upgrading the Exploration Target to between 559 and 774 million ounces of silver equivalent (AgEq). This leap from the previous 359-422 million ounces reflects a comprehensive reinterpretation of over two decades of geological and geophysical data, including 8,474 metres of diamond drilling and extensive surface sampling.

The deposit remains open in all directions, with historical drilling having largely focused on three zones now set to be bridged and expanded in a planned 4,000-metre infill and extension drilling campaign. Notably, Peru's Ministry of Mining has confirmed the project's Environmental Impact Declaration remains valid, clearing a key regulatory hurdle for upcoming drilling.

Community Agreement Remains a Key Milestone

Despite technical progress, Patriot's ability to commence drilling at Tassa hinges on finalising a community agreement. Managing Director Dominic Duggan and Non-Executive Director Diego Cillóniz have been actively engaging with local leadership, including multiple meetings with the Tassa Community Governing Committee and broader assemblies. While feedback has extended timelines, the company emphasises a commitment to crafting an agreement that balances community aspirations with project needs.

Zambia Copper Discovery Validates Exploration Model

In Zambia, Patriot confirmed a maiden high-grade copper-silver-zinc-cobalt discovery at its Tonic prospect following a 2,000-metre reverse circulation drilling program, the largest in the company's history. Discovery hole TBRC03 returned a broad 58-metre interval from surface grading 0.23% copper with significant silver and zinc, including high-grade sub-intervals exceeding 1% copper. The mineralisation remains open at depth and along strike, within a 5.5-kilometre target corridor that has only just begun to be tested.

Strategically located just 18 kilometres from Sinomine's Kitumba copper smelter, commissioning in 2026, the Tonic discovery positions Patriot well within an emerging copper growth corridor. The company recently expanded its footprint by acquiring a 90% interest in a nearby licence, further consolidating its presence in the Zambian Copperbelt.

Strategic Placement and Portfolio Refinement

Patriot completed a $500,000 placement with Next Investors at a 28% premium, coupled with a 24-month investor relations and marketing agreement aimed at raising the company's profile among silver-sector specialists. This capital injection supports ongoing exploration and corporate activities.

Meanwhile, the company is advancing divestment discussions for its 100%-owned Gorman Lithium and Critical Minerals project in Canada. The divestment process includes repositioning Gorman beyond lithium to highlight tantalum and caesium potential, aligning with growing North American critical minerals demand. With low holding costs, Patriot remains patient in seeking a strategic outcome.

Financials and Operational Efficiency

Exploration expenditure for the quarter totaled approximately A$1.2 million, with A$1.1 million focused on Tassa, including licence fees and community engagement costs. The Zambian drilling campaign was notably capital efficient, costing around A$200 per metre drilled, a testament to the operational capability of the team in a challenging jurisdiction. Patriot ended the quarter with cash reserves of A$901,000, acknowledging the need for further funding to sustain planned exploration activities.

Bottom Line?

Patriot’s upgraded silver-gold target and breakthrough copper discovery underscore its evolving focus on scalable, high-value assets, but progress hinges on securing community agreements and additional capital.

Questions in the middle?

  • How swiftly can Patriot finalise the community agreement to unlock drilling at Tassa?
  • What scale and grade extensions might upcoming drilling reveal along the 5.5km Tonic corridor?
  • Will the Gorman divestment attract strategic partners valuing its broader critical minerals potential?
