Redstone Resources Expands WA Gold and Critical Minerals Portfolio

Mining By Maxwell Dee 4 min read

Redstone Resources (ASX: RDS) has secured a 100% stake in a suite of high-potential gold, lithium, copper, and base metal projects in Western Australia, alongside advancing exploration at its flagship West Musgrave tenure.

  • Acquisition of multiple WA gold and critical minerals projects
  • Immediate drilling approvals for Mt Cauden and Twin Hills
  • Advancement of Saturn Cu-Ni-Co-PGE Project near BHP’s Nebo Babel deposit
  • West Musgrave drilling program supported by $230,000 government grant
  • James Bay Lithium JV remains on hold with no recent activity

Strategic Acquisition Boosts Redstone’s WA Exploration Footprint

Redstone Resources Limited (ASX:RDS) has significantly broadened its Western Australian exploration portfolio by acquiring a 100% interest in a collection of greenfields projects targeting gold, lithium, copper, and base metals. The acquisition, structured through the issue of 75 million shares to Hurricane Prospecting Pty Ltd at a modest $0.003 per share and a 1.5% net smelter return royalty, injects fresh potential into Redstone’s pipeline with minimal upfront capital outlay.

Among the newly acquired assets, the Mt Cauden Gold and Lithium Project stands out. Situated in the prolific Southern Cross gold district, it lies adjacent to the Marvel Loch gold operation and Mt Holland lithium mine, both world-class producers. Historical exploration has left much of the magnetic greenstone and metasedimentary units underexplored, presenting a compelling opportunity for Redstone to apply modern techniques. Crucially, Program of Work approvals are already in place for immediate RC drilling on identified walk-up targets.

Similarly, the Twin Hills Gold Project, located within the Norseman-Wiluna greenstone belt near the Menzies gold district, offers promising thick gold intersections from limited historical drilling, including 17m at 1.23 g/t Au. With an approved PoW, Redstone is poised to commence early-stage drilling to test these targets.

Exploration Poised to Advance at West Musgrave and Saturn Projects

Redstone is progressing exploration at its 100%-owned Saturn Cu-Ni-Co-PGE and PGE Reef Project, covering 330km2 in the Giles Intrusive Complex. This tenure is strategically located near BHP’s Nebo Babel and Succoth deposits, as well as Terra Metals’ Dante Project, all significant copper-nickel-cobalt-PGE systems.

Historical drilling at the Halleys Prospect within Saturn has revealed thick mineralised intervals, such as 58m at 0.35% Cu, 0.08% Ni, and 0.21g/t Pt+Pd+Au, with peak copper grades exceeding 1%. The presence of a large magnetic intrusion comparable to the nearby Panton Project’s substantial PGE resource underlines the project’s potential. Redstone is now advancing access negotiations with traditional owners to facilitate exploration.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway for an RC drilling campaign at the West Musgrave Copper Project, targeting priority magnetic anomalies near the Tollu Copper Deposit. This program benefits from a $230,000 co-funding grant from the WA Government’s Exploration Incentive Scheme, easing capital requirements. Redstone continues to analyse deep diamond drilling data to refine structural models and target mineralisation extensions.

International Lithium JV and Corporate Position

In Canada, the James Bay Lithium Joint Venture with Galan Lithium Ltd remains inactive this quarter, with no exploration conducted. The JV has reapplied for key tenements and expanded its claim holdings, maintaining exposure to the world-class James Bay Lithium Province.

On the corporate front, Redstone’s cash position stood at $557,000 at quarter-end, with ongoing exploration and administrative costs consuming modest cash outflows. Payments to related parties amounted to $15,483, reflecting director remuneration. The company’s funding runway is estimated at just over four quarters based on current expenditure levels.

Redstone’s acquisition strategy and exploration advancement reflect a deliberate push to unlock value across multiple commodities in Tier 1 jurisdictions. The combination of immediate drilling-ready projects and promising historical data at flagship tenures like Saturn and West Musgrave sets the stage for a potentially transformative phase of exploration activity.

Bottom Line?

Redstone’s expanded project suite and imminent drilling programs position it for a busy exploration cycle, but market watchers should track initial assay results closely to gauge the true scale of these opportunities.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will early drilling at Mt Cauden and Twin Hills confirm the historical indications of gold mineralisation?
  • How will access negotiations with traditional owners impact the timeline for exploration at the Saturn Project?
  • What impact will recent government grants and co-funding have on Redstone’s ability to accelerate West Musgrave drilling?
