Unity Metals Confirms Gold at All Ngot Prospects with Strong O’Phlay Start

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

Unity Metals has confirmed gold mineralisation across all four prospects at its Ngot Gold Project and reported a standout 40m intercept at the O’Phlay Project, underpinning its growing footprint in Cambodia’s emerging gold belt.

  • Gold found at all four Ngot prospects drilled
  • High-grade veins extend over 200m at Ngot Central
  • Diorite intrusion mineralisation expands under basalt at Rohav Mountain
  • Maiden 3,000m drilling underway at O’Phlay with 40m @ 1.9 g/t gold hit
  • Exploration spend of $2.266 million, cash at $1.612 million

Gold Confirmed Across Ngot Project Prospects

Unity Metals Limited (ASX:UM1) has delivered compelling evidence of gold mineralisation at all four prospects targeted in its maiden 50-hole diamond drilling campaign at the Ngot Gold Project in Cambodia. The program, spanning over 8,200 metres, tested Ngot Central, Rohav Mountain, Ngot NE, and Srolao prospects, all of which returned gold-bearing intersections.

At Ngot Central, high-grade quartz-pyrite-arsenopyrite veins hosted in diorite have been traced for more than 200 metres down dip, with notable intercepts including 0.4 metres at 32.8 g/t and 0.7 metres at 14.3 g/t gold. These veins exhibit strong continuity, reinforcing the prospect’s potential as a significant intrusion-related gold system.

Expanding Mineralisation Beneath Basalt at Rohav Mountain

The Rohav Mountain prospect revealed a highly altered diorite intrusion with gold mineralisation extending beneath basalt cover. Assays from 13 diamond holes confirmed multiple gold zones, including a 23-metre intersection averaging 0.9 g/t gold and a 6-metre section grading 1.9 g/t. Unity’s ongoing geophysical surveys, including LiDAR and induced polarisation, aim to refine drill targets in this structurally complex area.

Encouraging Maiden Drilling at O’Phlay Project

Unity has commenced its maiden 3,000-metre diamond drilling program at the O’Phlay Gold Project, also in Cambodia’s Mondulkiri province. Subsequent to the quarter, the first drill hole delivered a standout intersection of 40 metres at 1.9 g/t gold, including 5 metres at 10.5 g/t. This mineralisation is associated with quartz-arsenopyrite veins within diorite and is open at depth and along strike, marking a promising start to what is the first modern drilling at this historically mined site.

The O’Phlay program is focused on testing two strong chargeability anomalies identified by gradient array induced polarisation surveys at the Camp Prospect. The company expects to complete drilling and receive initial assays by mid-August, pending seasonal weather conditions.

Exploration Progress in Thailand and Licence Applications

Beyond Cambodia, Unity is advancing licence applications for its Ta Vaeng Copper Gold Project in Ratanakiri Province and the Loei Copper Gold Project in northern Thailand. The Loei Project is strategically located near the large PUT 1 copper deposit and covers aeromagnetic anomalies indicative of copper-gold mineralisation. Both projects remain at the application stage, with exploration activities planned post-licence grant.

Financial Position and Upcoming Work

Unity Metals ended the quarter with $1.612 million in cash after spending $2.266 million on exploration, predominantly on diamond drilling at Ngot. The company acknowledges a cash runway of under two quarters at current expenditure levels but anticipates slowing exploration during the monsoon season. Unity retains capacity to raise additional funds through equity if necessary.

Looking ahead, Unity plans to complete the O’Phlay drilling program and initiate trenching at the Camp Prospect. At Ngot, further trenching and geophysical surveys are scheduled, particularly at Rohav Mountain where mineralisation extends under cover. These activities will be critical to defining targets for resource estimation and advancing project development.

Bottom Line?

Unity’s expanding gold footprint in Cambodia, highlighted by robust drilling results and promising early hits at O’Phlay, sets the stage for a pivotal exploration phase, though funding constraints and seasonal weather pose near-term challenges.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will upcoming assays from O’Phlay confirm and extend the initial strong gold intersections?
  • How will Unity manage its exploration pace and funding given the limited cash runway?
  • Can the diorite-hosted systems at Rohav Mountain and Ngot Central translate into a substantial resource akin to nearby Okvau?
