Patronus Resources (ASX:PTN) is executing a major 30,000-metre multi-rig drilling campaign at its Pine Creek gold project, underpinning a 2.3 million ounce gold equivalent resource across its Northern Territory and Western Australia assets, supported by a robust $65 million cash position.

  • 30,000m multi-rig drilling underway at Pine Creek, NT
  • 2.3Moz gold equivalent Mineral Resources across NT and WA
  • $65M cash and investments backing exploration and growth
  • District-scale gold targets with multiple drill-ready prospects
  • Near-term catalysts from ongoing drilling and heritage approvals

District-Scale Drilling Campaign Underway at Pine Creek

Patronus Resources (ASX:PTN) has kicked off an ambitious 30,000-metre multi-rig drilling campaign at its Pine Creek gold project in the Northern Territory, a region boasting a +20 million ounce regional gold endowment yet still considered underexplored. The campaign targets multiple large-scale gold anomalies across seven priority exploration areas, including Fountain Head, Northern Leases, Burnside North, Golden Dyke, and Grove Hill. This aggressive drilling push aims to unlock the district-scale discovery potential of the 1,500 square kilometre tenure, supported by a recent pipeline of high-grade results and expanded surface geochemistry.

The Fountain Head deposit, with 283,000 ounces of gold mineral resources and existing mining and processing approvals, remains a focal point. Recent diamond drilling has confirmed mineralisation extending below the historical Tally Ho pit, with intercepts such as 2.61 metres at 6.38 grams per tonne gold from 454 metres downhole, reinforcing the prospect of resource growth at depth. A 5,000-metre follow-up reverse circulation (RC) drill programme is planned to test near-mine targets, seeking to convert exploration success into resource expansion.

Strong Resource Base Across Northern Territory and Western Australia

Patronus holds a combined Mineral Resource inventory of approximately 2.3 million ounces gold equivalent (AuEq) spanning its Northern Territory and Western Australia projects. This includes 955,000 ounces across the Mertondale and Cardinia East gold projects in Western Australia’s Leonora district, where a 1 million ounce gold resource base is complemented by multiple high-priority growth targets. Drilling at Cardinia’s Guppy prospect continues to define a new gold system with coherent shallow mineralisation open along strike and down dip, pending heritage access for further work.

In the Northern Territory, aside from Pine Creek’s gold assets, Patronus also holds base metals optionality at Hayes Creek with a significant zinc-lead-silver-gold volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) resource containing over 1.1 million ounces gold equivalent. The Hayes Creek project features more than 40 kilometres of prospective VMS stratigraphy and ongoing geophysical and geochemical programs to refine drill targets.

Robust Balance Sheet and Fully Funded Growth

Patronus enters this exploration phase with a solid financial footing, boasting $65 million in cash and liquid investments as of 30 June 2026. This strong balance sheet results in an enterprise value below cash backing, providing a rare margin of safety for investors. The company emphasises disciplined capital allocation to fully fund its exploration and strategic growth plans without immediate need for additional capital raising.

Management’s experienced team combines technical expertise with corporate governance and capital markets experience, positioning Patronus to advance its district-scale projects efficiently. The company’s near-term calendar includes concurrent drill programs across multiple targets at Pine Creek and Cardinia, with some Western Australian activities contingent on finalising heritage protection agreements.

Multiple Catalysts Through 2026

Patronus has laid out a busy pipeline of exploration and project milestones for the remainder of 2026. The ongoing drilling at Pine Creek’s Fountain Head, Northern Leases, Burnside North, Grove Hill, Golden Dyke, and other targets is expected to deliver new assay results and resource updates. In Western Australia, progression of heritage access agreements will unlock drilling at Cardinia’s Guppy and Mertondale prospects, both showing promising high-grade extensions beyond existing resources.

This flurry of activity is designed to systematically derisk and grow Patronus’ resource base, potentially catalysing re-rating opportunities as new discoveries and resource upgrades materialise. The company’s approach balances aggressive exploration with measured capital discipline, aiming to create shareholder value through both discovery and resource conversion.

Bottom Line?

Patronus Resources is well positioned with a strong cash buffer and a substantial drilling program targeting multiple district-scale gold opportunities, setting the stage for potential resource growth and value creation in two of Australia’s premier gold provinces.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will upcoming drilling results at Pine Creek materially expand the current resource base?
  • How will heritage access negotiations in Western Australia impact the timing of Cardinia drilling campaigns?
  • Can Patronus convert its strong cash position into sustained exploration success amid fluctuating gold prices?
