ActivEX Limited (ASX:AIV) has delivered compelling early-stage exploration results from its Georgetown Project in Queensland, with surface rock samples returning standout grades of up to 14.4 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 221 g/t silver. The sampling campaign targeted historical workings across four tenements, uncovering multiple high-grade zones that now demand closer scrutiny.
The Comet Prospect at Bridle Creek emerged as a highlight, with assays including 14.4 g/t Au and 150 g/t Ag from a rock chip sample collected near shafts extending to approximately 25 metres deep. Similarly, the Tambo-Mountain Creek Prospect within the Leichardt Creek tenement yielded 5.81 g/t Au paired with an impressive 221 g/t Ag. These results suggest significant mineralisation beneath transported sand cover that obscures much of the prospective geology.
Geological Complexity and Exploration Challenges
The Georgetown Project's geology is dominated by Proterozoic metamorphics and granites with local intrusions and fault-bounded basins, creating a complex mineralisation environment. At Leichardt Creek, a quartz sand cover up to two metres thick masks much of the terrain, limiting the effectiveness of conventional soil sampling. ActivEX plans to deploy ground geophysics to refine targets before drilling, recognising the need to overcome this surface cover.
Other notable results include 7.32 g/t Au at Stockman and 5.29 g/t Au at Cleanskin Creek, each accompanied by silver and base metals such as lead and zinc. The presence of base metals alongside precious metals hints at polymetallic mineralisation, which could enhance the project's economic potential.
Next Steps and Forward Program
ActivEX’s Managing Director Mark Derriman emphasised the importance of the second phase of exploration, noting the identification of the Comet and Tambo-Mountain Creek prospects as priority areas for follow-up. The company intends to conduct further surface geochemical sampling where sand cover is less problematic, alongside targeted geological mapping and rock sampling at the Forsayth tenement.
Crucially, ground-based geophysical surveys are planned to penetrate the sand cover and better delineate mineralised zones ahead of reverse circulation (RC) drilling scheduled for the 2026/2027 field season. This phased approach aims to build a more detailed understanding of the mineralisation before committing to costly drilling campaigns.
While these surface results are encouraging, it remains to be seen how the mineralisation extends at depth and continuity. The presence of historical workings indicates the area’s mineral potential, but modern exploration techniques will be essential to unlock value.
