Kameelburg Emerges as Global Rare Earth Heavyweight

Aldoro Resources Limited (ASX:ARN) has delivered a striking upgrade to its Kameelburg Rare Earth Element-Strontium-Niobium Project in Namibia, now boasting a colossal 804.5 million tonnes at 2.90% total rare earth oxides equivalent (TREO Eq), including a staggering 1.37 million tonnes of contained neodymium-praseodymium (NdPr) oxide. This figure eclipses the published contained NdPr inventories of the western-world giants Lynas’ Mt Weld and MP Materials’ Mountain Pass on an oxide basis, marking Kameelburg as one of the most significant emerging rare earth deposits globally.

The update incorporates 39 diamond drill holes totalling 16,904 metres and, notably, unveils a maiden Indicated Mineral Resource of 162.1 million tonnes. This higher-confidence resource, containing approximately 290,000 tonnes of NdPr oxide, provides a solid foundation for upcoming development studies and potential mine scheduling.

Multi-Critical Mineral System with Strategic Product Optionality

Kameelburg’s appeal extends beyond rare earths. The project hosts the world’s largest reported strontium resource; 802.1 million tonnes at 2.11% Sr; alongside substantial niobium mineralisation. Preliminary metallurgical testwork has demonstrated impressive recoveries: approximately 72% for rare earths via direct hydrochloric acid leaching, over 99% for strontium at ambient temperature, and 62.4% for niobium concentrate recovery. These promising results suggest a simplified processing pathway without the need for conventional beneficiation, potentially lowering capital and operating costs.

The deposit’s unique mineralogy, dominated by ancylite-hosted mineralisation rather than conventional monazite or bastnäsite, underpins these metallurgical advantages. Moreover, Kameelburg’s strontium inventory positions Aldoro to tap into the world’s largest permanent magnet market by volume; strontium ferrite magnets; complementing its exposure to the premium NdFeB magnet market driven by NdPr.

Near-Surface Mineralisation and Tier-1 Infrastructure

The mineralisation begins at surface and is amenable to open-pit mining. Geological continuity is supported by detailed geostatistical modelling and 100 site-specific density measurements, with a global bulk density of 2.85 t/m³ applied. The deposit remains open along strike, down-dip, and at depth, leaving room for further resource growth.

Strategically, Kameelburg benefits from excellent infrastructure: the sealed C33 highway lies within 300 metres, the TransNamib heavy-haul rail line within 2 kilometres, a 220 kV hydropower transmission line within 7 kilometres, and the deep-water Port of Walvis Bay 355 kilometres away. This proximity to transport and power infrastructure significantly reduces future development risk.

Development Milestones and Market Strategy

Aldoro is pivoting decisively towards development. An upgraded hydrometallurgical test program is underway at CM Solutions in Johannesburg, aiming to optimise recoveries and refine the processing flowsheet. A Scoping Study has commenced, laying groundwork for a Pre-Feasibility Study that will evaluate capital intensity, staged development options, and offtake engagement across NdPr, niobium, and strontium products.

Phase III drilling is planned for the third quarter of 2026, targeting conversion of a significant portion of the 642.4 million tonnes Inferred Resource into the Indicated category. Concurrently, Aldoro is progressing its proposed Hong Kong Stock Exchange listing, seeking to tap into deep pools of Asian institutional capital and broaden its investor base.

NdPr Demand Fueled by Electrification and AI Robotics

NdPr’s critical role in NdFeB permanent magnets; essential for electric vehicles, wind turbines, advanced defence systems, and increasingly AI-enabled humanoid robots; underlines the strategic importance of Kameelburg’s resource. Industry forecasts anticipate that robotics and physical AI platforms will become major incremental drivers of NdPr demand, adding urgency to the development of new, large-scale deposits outside China.

While the metallurgical testwork and development plans are promising, it’s important to note that approximately 80% of the resource remains classified as Inferred, carrying a lower geological confidence. Economic viability is still conceptual, pending further studies. The proposed Hong Kong listing also remains subject to regulatory approvals and market conditions.
