Air Core Drilling Confirms Mineralised System Despite Groundwater Challenges

Lincoln Minerals (ASX:LML) has taken a significant step forward at its Minbrie Copper Project on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula, confirming that mineralisation at the Eagle Ridge prospect continues up dip. The company completed 25 air core drill holes totalling 1,632 metres, designed to test extensions of the Eagle Ridge discovery and map the cover sequence over the 17km prospective stratigraphy.

Despite encountering groundwater earlier than expected, largely due to above-average rainfall in the Cowell region, many holes did not reach their target depth. Nevertheless, the drilling successfully validated Lincoln’s conceptual geological model, confirming continued copper and base metals mineralisation, including anomalous lead, zinc, and cobalt assays, particularly at the eastern and western edges of the mineralised zone.

Significant Base Metal Intercepts Highlight Exploration Potential

Among the holes that reached basement, one standout intercept was 6 metres at 0.26% lead and 0.22% zinc from 90 metres in hole MBAC022, consistent with the lower section of the original Eagle Ridge discovery hole BUDD192. This suggests the mineralised system remains open and continues up dip, reinforcing the prospect’s potential scale.

Lincoln’s CEO Chris Wilcox emphasised the technical validation this provides: “The air core drilling has upgraded our geological understanding and confirmed the system we are targeting. While drilling conditions were challenging, the results give us confidence to proceed with a diamond drilling program to test the system at depth and along strike.”

Planning for Follow-Up Diamond Drilling in Q4 2026

Building on these encouraging results, Lincoln is preparing for a targeted diamond drilling campaign at Eagle Ridge in the fourth quarter of calendar year 2026. This program aims to test extensions of the mineralisation down dip and along strike, seeking to better define the system’s scale and grade continuity.

The company remains well capitalised following a recent $3.1 million strategic placement, providing the financial flexibility to advance this next phase of exploration without delay. The diamond drilling results will be pivotal in shaping subsequent work programs and assessing the project’s economic potential.

Minbrie Positioned in a Highly Prospective Copper Province

Minbrie sits within the Gawler Craton, a globally recognised copper province that hosts major IOCG deposits such as Olympic Dam and Prominent Hill. Lincoln controls 17km of target stratigraphy at Minbrie, with historic drilling over 7km of strike revealing significant copper and base metal mineralisation, including a discovery intersection of 29.5 metres at 0.8% copper, 7.5% lead, and 1.9% zinc from 131.1 metres at Eagle Ridge.

Notably, approximately 1.7km of strike at Eagle Ridge remains untested, underscoring the upside potential of Lincoln’s exploration strategy. The company’s approach to mapping basement geochemistry beneath transported cover sediments using air core drilling has now been technically validated, setting a clear path forward.
