OD6 Metals has completed its acquisition of the Quinn Fluorspar Project, consolidating 100% ownership of 226 mining claims in Nevada and positioning itself as a potential key domestic fluorspar supplier for the US.

  • Acquisition of Quinn Fluorspar Project finalized for A$200,000
  • Consolidated 226 mining claims covering ~1,890 hectares in Nevada
  • Multiple high-grade fluorspar deposits confirmed with new drill targets
  • Permitting and metallurgical testwork underway to advance development
  • Potential gold mineralisation identified alongside fluorspar targets

District-Scale Fluorspar Position Consolidated in Nevada

OD6 Metals (ASX:OD6) has officially completed its acquisition of the Quinn Fluorspar Project in Nevada, a move that significantly expands its footprint in a critical mineral category for the United States. The deal, struck for a modest A$200,000 split evenly between cash and shares, grants OD6’s wholly owned subsidiary US Fluorspar LLC full legal and beneficial ownership of 48 mining claims. Coupled with an additional 178 claims staked since March, OD6 now controls 226 claims spanning approximately 1,890 hectares across seven project areas.

High-Grade Fluorspar and Emerging Drill Targets

The Quinn Project is distinguished by its multiple high-grade fluorspar deposits, including Horseshoe, Mammoth, and Big Jim. Historical data and recent channel sampling confirm exceptional grades near surface, with mineralisation open in several directions. OD6’s integrated geological mapping, fluorine geochemistry, and structural interpretation have identified an 8-kilometre mineralised corridor peppered with high-grade fluorine anomalies, extending beyond known deposits. This has translated into numerous high-priority, drill-ready targets, setting the stage for systematic resource definition.

Alongside fluorspar, the project has revealed potential gold upside through soil sampling at Mammoth, Horseshoe, and Dress Circle, suggesting a large epithermal system that could add value beyond the core fluorspar assets. This dual commodity potential enhances the strategic appeal of Quinn in a prolific Nevada mining jurisdiction.

Permitting and Metallurgical Advancements Underway

OD6 is progressing a comprehensive permitting program, including environmental baseline studies and archaeological assessments, to facilitate drilling and bulk sampling approvals. The company is targeting streamlined US regulatory pathways, including potential eligibility under the FAST-41 program designed to accelerate critical infrastructure projects.

Metallurgical testwork is advancing with a focus on optical sorting and beneficiation to optimise recoveries of premium fluorspar products. Low impurity levels in the mineralisation support the production of high-purity Acidspar (>97% CaF2) and Metspar, both essential inputs for hydrofluoric acid, semiconductor manufacturing, advanced batteries, and defence applications.

Strategic Significance Amid US Import Reliance

Fluorspar is designated a critical mineral in the US, which currently imports 100% of its supply, predominantly from China. OD6’s Quinn Project could become a strategic domestic source, reducing supply chain risks for industries reliant on fluorspar. Managing Director Brett Hazelden emphasised the project's evolution from a simple acquisition to a district-scale critical minerals hub, highlighting the company’s confidence in Quinn’s potential to supply premium fluorspar products to the US market.

With the acquisition complete, OD6 is shifting focus from land consolidation to detailed geological modelling, assay interpretation, expanded fieldwork, and drill program preparation. These steps will be critical in defining a resource and advancing development studies.

Bottom Line?

OD6’s acquisition of Quinn places it at the forefront of US fluorspar supply efforts, but the path from exploration to production hinges on upcoming drilling results and regulatory approvals.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will upcoming assay results influence the scale and grade of Quinn’s resource?
  • Can OD6 navigate US permitting efficiently to maintain project momentum?
  • What impact might the emerging gold potential have on project economics?
