Ausmon Resources Limited (ASX:AOA) has initiated field exploration for base metals within its EL 9220 Enmore, a sizeable 341 km2 tenement located about 50 km south of Broken Hill in western New South Wales. The program focuses on soil sampling across the Pine Creek and West Enmore Prospects, aiming to identify base metal mineralisation in a region known for its rich deposits.

Geological Setting Points to Base Metals Potential

The Enmore tenement sits within the Curnamona Province, specifically in the Thackaringa Group beneath the Broken Hill Group, which hosts the world-class Broken Hill orebody currently mined for lead, zinc, and silver. The area’s geology is dominated by the Redan Gneiss and other gneissic formations, intersected by NE-SW trending shear zones believed to control mineralisation.

These structural features, highlighted by magnetic imaging, reveal linear highs that Ausmon considers promising targets for base metals. The Pine Creek and West Enmore Prospects were selected based on such geological and geophysical indicators, including surface gossans and shear zone intersections.

Sampling Strategy and Analytical Approach

Ausmon’s exploration involves systematic soil sampling on a 250m by 250m grid. Samples will first undergo onsite analysis using an Olympus Delta pXRF device to quickly screen for elevated base metal geochemistry. Those samples showing anomalous results will then be dispatched to ALS laboratories in Adelaide for comprehensive gold and multi-element assays, providing a detailed geochemical fingerprint.

This approach balances rapid field assessment with rigorous laboratory confirmation, a method consistent with Ausmon’s previous exploration campaigns, including recent rare earths drilling activities in South Australia.

The exploration results and targets are overseen by Ausmon’s Chief Technical Officer, Mark Derriman, a qualified geoscientist with relevant experience in this style of mineralisation. His certification adds credibility to the technical aspects of the program.
