Flynn Gold is kicking off a 2,500m drilling campaign at its Brilliant Prospect in northeast Tasmania, aiming to convert promising trench assay results into a formal Mineral Resource and fast-track project development.
- 21-hole, 2,500m drilling program to support resource estimation
- Recent trench sampling reveals over 110m of continuous near-surface gold mineralisation
- Drilling targets both in-fill and extensional zones at Brilliant Prospect
- Part of broader Golden Ridge Project with 3.5 to 5.4Mt exploration target
- Ore Purchase Agreement with Henty Gold Mine underpins low-capex development pathway
Drilling Commences at Golden Ridge’s Brilliant Prospect
Flynn Gold Limited (ASX:FG1) is mobilising its diamond drill rig to begin a 21-hole, 2,500-metre resource definition drilling program at the Brilliant Gold Prospect, a key component of its Golden Ridge Project in northeast Tasmania. This marks the first drilling at Brilliant since 2022 and aims to systematically define near-surface gold mineralisation and test extensions at depth.
The program is designed to underpin a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate and assess mining potential under a low-capital expenditure production pathway, enabled by Flynn’s recently announced non-binding Ore Purchase Agreement with the Henty Gold Mine. CEO Neil Marston emphasised the strategic importance of this drilling as a concrete step in advancing Golden Ridge’s development, with plans to add further rigs to accelerate progress.
Trenching Confirms a Robust Gold Footprint
The trenching data, combined with historical drilling, indicates that the gold system extends to significant depths below surface anomalies, reinforcing the prospect’s potential. The mineralisation occurs within sheeted and stockwork quartz-carbonate-sulphide veins typical of intrusive-related gold systems (IRGS), which globally are known for their large scale.
Golden Ridge Exploration Target and Broader Potential
The Golden Ridge Project hosts an extensive IRGS along a 9-kilometre contact zone, with an Exploration Target estimated between 3.5 and 5.4 million tonnes grading 3.0 to 4.0 g/t Au, equating to approximately 449,000 to 520,000 ounces of gold. The Brilliant Prospect alone accounts for an estimated 1.4 to 2.2 million tonnes at 1.6 to 1.9 g/t Au, though the company cautions that these figures remain conceptual pending further drilling.
Flynn is also planning resource definition drilling at the nearby Trafalgar Prospect and exploration step-outs along the 3-kilometre corridor between Brilliant and Trafalgar, where drilling coverage remains limited. This strategy aims to grow and convert the Exploration Target into defined Mineral Resources, leveraging the geological continuity along the granodiorite contact zone.
Advancing Toward Development with Regulatory Milestones
The drilling program follows key regulatory progress, including the registration of Mining Lease Application 6M/2026, which covers the core deposits within Golden Ridge. Environmental baseline studies are underway to support permitting, while metallurgical testwork is planned to assess processing characteristics.
Flynn’s non-binding Ore Purchase Agreement with Henty Gold Mine provides a potential low-capex production route by utilising existing processing infrastructure, a significant advantage in advancing Golden Ridge toward commercialisation. This agreement covers all of Flynn’s Tasmanian projects and aligns with the company’s accelerated development pathway.
Next Steps and Investor Engagement
Beyond the initial drilling at Brilliant, Flynn plans additional trenching, sourcing a reverse circulation drill rig to expedite activities, and finalising permitting for Trafalgar and the step-out exploration corridor. The company is actively engaging investors through its interactive Investor Hub, providing updates and responding to queries.
While true widths of the mineralised intervals are yet to be determined and the Exploration Target remains conceptual, the current drilling campaign represents a pivotal phase in Flynn’s efforts to delineate a viable gold resource in northeast Tasmania.
Bottom Line?
Flynn Gold’s upcoming drilling at Brilliant is a critical test of the Golden Ridge Project’s resource potential and could set the pace for broader exploration and development in Tasmania.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the drilling at Brilliant confirm a Mineral Resource that supports low-capex mining?
- How significant will the exploration results between Brilliant and Trafalgar be for expanding the resource base?
- What impact will the Ore Purchase Agreement with Henty Gold Mine have on project economics and timelines?
