  • Special dividend of $0.1697 per share totaling $35 million
  • Dividend funded by sale of 1% Youanmi Gold Project royalty
  • Dividend 80.01% franked, payment expected 18 September 2026
  • Ongoing exploration at Sandstone (Bellchambers) Gold Project
  • Active joint venture with IGO at Bridgetown-Greenbushes

Major Cash Return Following Youanmi Royalty Sale

Venus Metals Corporation (ASX:VMC) is set to pay a special cash dividend of $0.1697 per share, equating to a total payout of $35 million to shareholders. This significant distribution is primarily funded by the $47 million sale of its 1.0% net smelter return royalty on gold production from the Youanmi Gold Project to Franco-Nevada Australia Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Franco-Nevada Corporation. The dividend will be 80.01% franked, reflecting the company’s tax position, with payment scheduled for 18 September 2026.

Balancing Shareholder Returns with Growth Assets

Managing Director Matthew Hogan emphasised that the cash dividend, alongside a recent in-specie distribution of Rox Resources shares, represents the board’s strategy to return value to shareholders while maintaining exposure to future growth. Venus retains a substantial shareholding in Rox Resources Limited, alongside a diversified portfolio of exploration and development projects across Western Australia.

Key among these is the Sandstone (Bellchambers) Gold Project, which holds a global resource estimate of 766,000 tonnes at 1.27 grams per tonne gold for 31,400 ounces. The company is advancing a mining development and closure proposal, alongside a Pre-Feasibility Study. Notably, an Exploration Target beneath the current resource is defined at 800,000 to 950,000 tonnes grading 1.75 to 2.00 grams per tonne gold, potentially adding 45,000 to 60,000 ounces of gold. Recent deep drilling at Bellchambers and Rangeview aims to expand this resource, with assay results pending.

Active Partnerships and Exploration Programs

Venus is also progressing its farm-in and joint venture with IGO’s subsidiary at the Bridgetown-Greenbushes project, which has now entered the Stage 2 exploration phase. This partnership, alongside other projects detailed in Venus’s ASX announcements, underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to unlocking value from its extensive portfolio.

The board remains vigilant for further opportunities to enhance shareholder value, balancing near-term returns with the potential of its asset base. The dividend timetable sets the ex-date on 10 September 2026 and the record date on 11 September 2026, with payments expected a week later.

Bottom Line?

Venus Metals is delivering a substantial cash return while maintaining exposure to promising gold assets, with upcoming assay results set to clarify the upside potential at Sandstone.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will assay results from Bellchambers drilling confirm the Exploration Target's potential?
  • How will Venus balance further shareholder returns with capital needs for project development?
  • Could the IGO joint venture at Bridgetown-Greenbushes unlock new value for Venus shareholders?
