Record-Setting High-Grade Gold Intercept at Arrakis

Yandal Resources (ASX:YRL) has unveiled a standout assay result from its ongoing infill reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Arrakis gold discovery within the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee (IWB) Gold Project. The highlight intercept, a 20-metre run grading 8.7 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 84 metres depth, includes an extraordinary 3 metres at 52.8g/t gold, the highest-grade interval ever recorded at the project.

This intercept (hole 26IWBRC0120) sits within a 1.3-kilometre strike mineralised system that Yandal is aggressively testing to delineate high-grade domains. The company’s Managing Director, Chris Oorschot, described the result as "exceptional," emphasizing its potential to reveal an additional high-grade zone within the Arrakis structure, complementing previous intercepts just 100 metres south.

Shallow Gold and New Domains Emerging

Alongside the record intercept, the drilling also returned the shallowest gold intercept to date at Arrakis: 12 metres at 1.8g/t gold from just 31 metres depth (hole 26IWBRC0119). This shallow mineralisation enhances the prospect’s appeal for near-surface extraction potential.

The combination of these results indicates the presence of multiple mineralised domains within Arrakis, including a newly identified high-grade domain hosted in a heavily deformed dolerite unit beneath an intermediate porphyry. Geological logging and cross-section analysis suggest mineralisation is structurally controlled, with steep northeast dips and complex shear fabrics influencing gold distribution.

Ongoing Drilling and Exploration Plans

Yandal has completed 24 RC holes spaced at 100-metre intervals across the prospect, with assay results from nine recent holes now released. Ten additional holes, including three with diamond core tails, are expected to deliver assays throughout August. The diamond core samples, particularly from hole 26IWBRC0121D located 60 metres down-dip of the record intercept, will provide critical fresh rock data to better understand mineralisation continuity.

The company also completed a heritage survey in July, enabling tighter 50-metre spaced infill drilling across Arrakis. A maiden exploration target for the discovery is scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2026, which will incorporate these latest results and guide further drilling.

Broader Project Activity and Resource Context

Arrakis sits at the heart of Yandal’s IWB Gold Project, a 456-square-kilometre tenure package in the Yandal Greenstone Belt, Western Australia. The project already hosts the Flushing Meadows deposit, with a 268,000-ounce gold resource at 1.1g/t grade. Recent drilling at Flushing Meadows and other targets such as New England Granite and Mt McClure continues to advance Yandal’s exploration pipeline, with results and follow-up programs planned through the remainder of 2026.

The Arrakis prospect’s mineralisation styles are twofold: a broad, lower-grade zone within a silica-sericite altered dacite porphyry, and a higher-grade domain associated with intense deformation and silica-pyrite-arsenopyrite alteration along the margins. Structural controls, including sinistral strike-slip shearing and mylonite fabrics, appear to influence the geometry and thickness of mineralisation.

While the recent intercepts are encouraging, Yandal cautions that true widths are estimated at around 60-70% of downhole lengths, and high-grade intervals may be subject to smearing effects during sampling. Further drilling is essential to confirm the geometry, continuity, and economic potential of the new high-grade domain.

The company’s exploration strategy is clearly bearing fruit, with the Arrakis discovery rapidly evolving from a broad regolith anomaly to a multi-domain gold system with significant high-grade potential.
