Broad Mineralised Zone Confirmed at Laguna Verde

Cosmo Metals Ltd (ASX:CMO) has unveiled assay results from its recent diamond drilling campaign at the Kanowna Gold Project near Kalgoorlie, confirming a broad mineralised zone at the Laguna Verde prospect. The WA Government co-funded hole LVDD001 intersected 14 metres at 0.48 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 44 metres, including a higher-grade 1 metre interval at 1.17g/t from 55 metres within weathered bedrock. This intersection lies approximately 150 metres up-dip from a 2024 Cosmo drill hole, supporting the continuity of mineralisation along the interpreted extension of the Fitzroy Shear.

Don Alvaro Drilling Highlights Structural Complexity

At Don Alvaro on the Kanowna Shear, diamond hole DARC002R returned broad anomalous gold intervals that reinforce previously reported mineralisation, such as 12m at 0.79g/t Au including 2m at 3.72g/t from 30 metres in DARC001. These results extend mineralised structures up to 160 metres west-northwest of prior high-grade intercepts, which included up to 18m at 5.3g/t Au. Geological interpretation suggests the Kanowna Shear may be bifurcated in this area, with one branch lying further northwest than initially targeted. This structural offset presents new targeting opportunities for follow-up drilling and modelling.

Comprehensive Drilling Program Across Kanowna Shear

The recent program comprised six holes totalling 875 metres of reverse circulation (RC) and 590 metres of diamond drilling. Five deep holes tested approximately 6 kilometres of strike along the Kanowna Shear, a major structural feature known for hosting significant gold deposits, including Northern Star Resources’ +7 million ounce Kanowna Belle mine adjacent to Cosmo’s tenure. The sixth hole targeted the conceptual Laguna Verde prospect, aiming to validate geological models of mineralised shear zones linked to the Fitzroy Fault extension.

Pending Results and Future Exploration Plans

Cosmo is awaiting assay results from diamond tails drilled at the Adder prospect, which will provide further insight into the mineralisation potential along the Kanowna Shear. Managing Director Ian Prentice emphasised that the confirmed broad mineralised zones and enhanced geological understanding from these drilling results will guide follow-up exploration. The company plans to integrate these new data into geological models to refine targeting strategies for higher-grade gold zones.

Strategic Positioning in a Proven Gold District

The Kanowna Gold Project covers 32 square kilometres of contiguous tenure, hosting over 8 kilometres of the Kanowna Shear Zone bisecting the Panglo Basin sediments. This setting is analogous to nearby major gold mines and is characterised by widespread pathfinder element anomalies and supergene gold mineralisation from shallow drilling. The recent diamond drilling results reinforce the prospectivity of the area for large-scale orogenic gold systems with potential for significant resource growth.
