Kuniko’s Early Earn-In Signals Confidence in Commonwealth Project

Kuniko Limited (ASX:KNI) has accelerated its stake in Impact Minerals’ (ASX:IPT) Commonwealth-Silica Hill gold-silver-copper project, earning 51% ownership after spending $1.5 million; achieving this key milestone 12 months ahead of the original two-year schedule. This swift progress underscores Kuniko’s conviction in the project’s potential within the Lachlan Fold Belt, a prolific mining region in New South Wales.

Exploration Successes Highlight Project Potential

Since commencing exploration in September 2025, Kuniko has delivered a suite of encouraging results. A Mobile Magnetotellurics (MT) survey identified a 4-kilometre conductive corridor peppered with multiple high-priority targets within 1 kilometre of the core project area. This geophysical insight has sharpened the focus for subsequent drilling programs.

Phase 1 drilling, completed earlier this year, confirmed high-grade mineralisation, most notably a standout intercept at Silica Hill: 0.5 metres grading 20,603 g/t silver and 27 g/t gold. This intercept, alongside other mineralised holes, validates the project’s polymetallic VMS-style and epithermal stockwork vein systems that host significant precious and base metals.

Following this, Phase 2 diamond drilling is underway, targeting resource extensions and an upgraded Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) slated for release by the end of 2026. The drilling program aims to expand the footprint of the newly discovered high-grade zones and unlock further exploration upside along the extensive conductive corridor and historic undrilled shafts.

Impact Minerals Retains Strategic Exposure with Free-Carried Interest

Impact Minerals maintains a 30% free-carried interest in the Commonwealth Project until a Decision to Mine, preserving significant upside exposure without immediate capital outlay. Post Decision to Mine, Impact may opt to contribute or dilute to a 10% interest, secured by a 2% net smelter return (NSR) royalty. This structure allows Impact to concentrate on advancing its High Purity Alumina projects, where pilot-scale studies have recently commenced.

Upcoming Catalysts to Watch

Investors should monitor several near-term milestones: a regional targeting review integrating geological, geochemical, gravity, and Mobile MT datasets is expected in August to identify further drill targets. September will bring assay results from the ongoing Phase 2 drilling. The second half of 2026 will focus on exploration upside across the 4km conductive corridor and historic shafts, capped by an upgraded Project MRE.

Bottom Line?

Kuniko’s rapid earn-in and early drilling success position the Commonwealth Project for a potential resource upgrade later this year, setting the stage for intensified exploration and value re-rating.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will Phase 2 drilling confirm extensions to the high-grade zones at Silica Hill and Commonwealth South?
  • How materially will the upcoming resource upgrade affect the project’s valuation and JV interests?
  • What exploration targets will the integrated regional review identify beyond the current corridor?
