TechGen Metals Secures Drill Rig for Maiden Blue Devil Copper-Gold Test in WA
TechGen Metals has locked in a diamond drill rig to begin maiden drilling at its Blue Devil Project in Western Australia, targeting two major copper-gold systems with strong geophysical and geochemical backing.
- Diamond drill rig contracted for Blue Devil Project
- Drilling to start around 20 August 2026
- Targets include Blue Devil and Red Devil copper-gold systems
- High-grade surface assays up to 52.3% copper at Red Devil
- Project covers 195km2 in Halls Creek Orogen, WA
Drill Rig Mobilisation Marks Key Milestone for Blue Devil
TechGen Metals Limited (ASX:TG1) has secured a diamond drill rig through Terra Drilling, with mobilisation to its 100%-owned Blue Devil Project scheduled for 20 August 2026. Drilling is expected to commence shortly thereafter, marking the first-ever drill test of the Blue Devil and Red Devil copper-gold targets in the Halls Creek Orogen region of Western Australia.
Large Geophysical Targets Underpin Exploration Strategy
The Blue Devil target spans approximately 2.75 kilometres and features three strong airborne electromagnetic (EM) conductors sitting above an interpreted magnetic intrusive body. These late-time EM anomalies coincide with multiple copper and gold geochemical anomalies, supported by key pathfinder elements that are critical in orebody formation. Meanwhile, the Red Devil target is defined by a high-intensity induced polarisation (IP) chargeability anomaly with a core zone of 30-35mV/V; over three times background levels; extending 175-225 metres below surface and about 300 metres thick vertically.
Surface Sampling Highlights High-Grade Potential at Red Devil
Rock chip sampling at Red Devil has returned exceptional grades, including assays up to 52.3% copper and 5.35 grams per tonne gold in cross-cutting structures above and adjacent to the IP anomaly. These results suggest the presence of multiple styles of copper-gold mineralisation, including porphyry copper-gold, iron-oxide copper-gold (IOCG), intrusion-related gold, and skarn deposits.
Exploration Backed by Modern Geophysics and Independent Expertise
TechGen’s Managing Director Ashley Hood emphasised the significance of applying modern geophysical techniques to the project, which had previously seen limited exploration. The company’s data, reviewed by external experts, points to large-scale copper-gold mineral systems prospective for multiple intrusion-related deposit styles. This maiden drilling campaign aims to validate these targets and unlock the potential of what lies just a few hundred metres beneath the surface.
Strong News Flow Expected as Drilling Progresses
With the drill rig contract signed and mobilisation imminent, TechGen anticipates a steady stream of news, including updates on drill commencement and assay results as the program unfolds. The 195-square-kilometre project area, comprising exploration licences E80/6047, E80/6084, and E80/6101, is strategically positioned in a highly prospective copper-gold province, offering multiple pathways for discovery.
Bottom Line?
TechGen’s maiden drilling at Blue and Red Devil will be a critical test of its large, geophysically defined copper-gold targets, with assay results over the coming months set to shape the project’s future trajectory.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the maiden drilling confirm the scale and grade suggested by geophysical and geochemical data?
- How might assay results influence TechGen’s exploration strategy and potential resource definition?
- What impact will drilling outcomes have on TechGen’s valuation and investor interest in the near term?
