Rox Resources Extends High-Grade Youanmi Mineralisation Beyond DFS Plan
Rox Resources (ASX:RXL) has reported strong underground drilling results at Youanmi’s United North area, with mineralisation extending beyond the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) mine plan and infrastructure contracts advancing, keeping the project on track for mid-2027 gold production.
- Significant high-grade gold intercepts at United North underground drilling
- Ore drive development progressing beyond DFS mine plan
- Power Purchase Agreement signed with Pacific Energy for multi-source power station
- Processing plant construction and mining development advancing on schedule
- Youanmi Gold Mine production remains targeted for mid-CY2027
High-Grade Drilling Reinforces Expansion Potential at United North
Rox Resources has unveiled a fresh batch of underground diamond drilling results from the United North zone of its Youanmi Gold Mine in Western Australia, confirming high-grade gold mineralisation that extends beyond the boundaries set in the company’s November 2025 Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS). Notable intercepts include 10.4 metres at 2.65 g/t Au and a standout 2.24 metres at 39.33 g/t Au, underscoring the robustness of the ore system.
The latest drilling campaign, comprising 17 holes totalling over 3,100 metres in July, is part of Rox’s effort to infill drill 12 months ahead of mining, reducing operational risk and underpinning ore delivery certainty. These results build on earlier high-grade intercepts and suggest potential for expanding the upper levels of the United North mine.
Ore Drive Development Surpasses DFS Expectations
Underground development at the 2356 and 2341 metre reduced levels is now advancing beyond the DFS mine plan, with face sampling assays from the 2341mRL level returning grades higher than modelled. While assays from the 2356mRL level are pending, mapped sulphide-rich shear zones correlate well with mineralisation at 2341mRL, indicating extensions to the known ore bodies.
A second ore drive on 2341mRL is also under development beyond DFS outlines, offering promising near-term stoping opportunities. Rox cautions that assay results for some faces remain outstanding, but the visual identification of mineralised shear zones provides encouraging operational signals.
Power Purchase Agreement Secured with Pacific Energy
In a key infrastructure milestone, Rox has inked a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Pacific Energy Pty Ltd to deliver a multi-source power station at Youanmi. The Build Own Operate (BOO) contract includes 25MW thermal power capacity, 26MWdc solar generation, 9.3MVA battery storage, and 2MW diesel backup, all designed to support the mine’s underground and village power needs.
Pacific Energy, a major player in Western Australia’s mining power sector with over 40 stations, has already mobilised onsite, aligning with Rox’s DFS financial assumptions. The final major contract for oxygen supply is in late-stage negotiation.
Processing Plant and Mining Progress on Track
Construction of the 1 million tonnes per annum processing plant continues on schedule under EPC contractor Interquip Construction, with concrete foundations, crusher, conveyors, and ball mill progressing. Long-lead equipment and CIL tank steel plates have arrived, and bulk earthworks near completion.
Mining operations are outpacing DFS advance rates, with 522 metres mined in July alone, including 350 metres of development across three mining areas and 172 metres of surface stripping. Ventilation infrastructure improvements and pump station installations are enabling accelerated underground production stoping in coming months.
Funding and Approvals Support Mid-2027 Production Goal
Rox remains on track for first gold production in mid-CY2027, supported by completed project funding; including a $200 million placement, $18 million share purchase plan, and $350 million debt facilities; and all necessary regulatory approvals. The company is advancing resource conversion and exploration drilling at Youanmi Deeps, scheduled to commence in Q3 2026, aiming to further extend mine life and increase output.
With development drives extending beyond the DFS mine plan and infrastructure contracts locked in, Rox’s Managing Director Phill Wilding highlighted the growing confidence in mineralisation continuity and the company’s aspiration to scale Youanmi towards a 150,000 ounces per annum operation in future years.
Bottom Line?
Rox Resources is steadily de-risking Youanmi’s development with expanding high-grade mineralisation and secured infrastructure contracts, setting a solid foundation for production in mid-2027.
Questions in the middle?
- Will pending assays from the 2356mRL ore drive confirm further mineralisation extensions?
- How will the finalisation of the oxygen supply contract impact the project’s commissioning timeline?
- Can ongoing exploration drilling at Youanmi Deeps unlock additional resources to support production growth beyond initial targets?
