Historic Data Unlocks New Uranium Targets at Bennet Well

Cauldron Energy (ASX:CXU) has breathed new life into its Bennet Well uranium deposit by reprocessing passive seismic data originally collected between 2014 and 2017. Working with Southern Geoscience, the company merged this historic dataset with its 2025 and 2026 surveys, producing a far clearer image of the Bennet Well palaeochannel system. The updated seismic imagery reveals a complex estuary network with multiple tributaries feeding into the main channel that hosts the Bennet Well Central Orebody.

Expanding the Yanrey Uranium Province

The reprocessed data also extended the Yanrey palaeochannel by 3 kilometres further upstream to the south-southeast, linking it via the Bennet Well South palaeochannel. This connection adds a new dimension to the regional palaeodrainage system, with a newly discovered Bennet Well West tributary extending westwards and connecting the Bennet Well deposit to the Yanrey palaeochannel. Several smaller, previously untested extensions to the Bennet Well deposit have emerged from the seismic imagery, highlighting fresh exploration opportunities.

Drilling Plans and Project Scale

Cauldron’s CEO Jonathan Fisher emphasised that these new targets will feed into the company's regional prioritisation matrix, with initial drilling expected to begin within weeks as part of the 2026 drill program. The Yanrey Uranium Project, spanning approximately 1,493 square kilometres in Western Australia, already boasts a substantial resource base of 55.6 million pounds of uranium oxide across three deposits, including Bennet Well’s 30.9 million pounds.

Strategic Importance Amid Policy Constraints

Fisher highlighted the significance of the reprocessed data in illustrating the scale of Yanrey’s uranium potential, which he described as a future in-situ recovery (ISR) uranium region of global importance pending changes to Western Australia's uranium mining policy. The company views ongoing exploration progress and the growing interest in WA’s uranium prospects as critical in advocating for policy revision.

Geophysical Techniques Driving Exploration

Cauldron employs a multi-tiered geophysical approach, starting with regional airborne electromagnetic surveys to locate buried palaeochannels, followed by passive seismic surveys to delineate channel margins and tributaries more precisely. This methodology has identified around 30 palaeochannels within Cauldron’s tenements, each considered highly prospective for uranium mineralisation and requiring drill testing. The Bennet Well area, in particular, forms part of a prolific but underexplored palaeochannel uranium system within the Manyingee Embayment.
