WA Gold Uncovers New Gold Anomalies at Bullabulling Ahead of Deeper Drilling

WA Gold's reconnaissance drilling at Bullabulling reveals promising gold anomalism within key shear zones, setting the stage for targeted deeper RC drilling later this year.

  • 41 RC holes drilled for 1,897m across two priority targets
  • New gold anomalies near historical intercepts in Bullabulling Shear Zone
  • Continuous +20ppb Au trend over 2.6km along ultramafic contact
  • Sub-audio magnetics survey planned for September 2026
  • Deeper RC drilling scheduled for October 2026

Reconnaissance Drilling Highlights Emerging Gold Vectors

WA Gold Limited (ASX:WAU) has completed a reconnaissance drilling program at its Bullabulling Project in Western Australia, delivering encouraging signs of gold anomalism that could point to new mineralisation sources. The 41 reverse circulation holes, totalling 1,897 metres, targeted two priority zones within Bullabulling North, a tenure strategically sandwiched between Minerals 260’s 4.5 million ounce Bullabulling Gold Project to the south and the Gekko Gold Project to the north.

The drilling identified a fresh end-of-hole gold anomaly of 2 metres at 0.16 grams per tonne (g/t) Au from 52 metres in hole 26BBRC008, located just 160 metres east of a historical anomaly of 5 metres at 0.12 g/t Au recorded in 1996. This new intercept lies within the interpreted Bullabulling Shear Zone, a key structural feature believed to host significant mineralisation.

Regional-Scale Ultramafic Contact Shows Continuous Anomalism

Beyond the shear zone, drilling across the eastern ultramafic contact delineated a continuous gold anomalous trend exceeding 20 parts per billion (ppb) Au over approximately 2.6 kilometres of strike. Notably, hole 26BBRC027 returned 4 metres at 0.25 g/t Au from 40 metres to end of hole, reinforcing this target's potential. The scale and continuity of this anomalism provide an additional priority target for follow-up exploration.

WA Gold has submitted 34 one-metre samples from anomalous composite intervals for further assay to sharpen the resolution of these geochemical signals. These assays will feed into the next phase of exploration planning.

Upcoming SAM Survey to Refine Structural Targets

A sub-audio magnetics (SAM) geophysical survey is scheduled for September 2026 to cover key areas of the interpreted Bullabulling Shear Zone. The SAM results will be integrated with the new geochemical data to refine the structural interpretation and prioritise targets for a deeper RC drilling campaign planned for October 2026. This combined approach aims to better define the architecture of gold mineralisation and focus resources on the most prospective zones.

WA Gold’s CEO Ben Pollard highlighted the progressive nature of the exploration: “We’re progressively unearthing the right geological clues at Bullabulling, with these new results providing encouraging vectors for the next phase of exploration. Our next step is to combine the new geochemical data with the upcoming SAM survey to refine our targets ahead of deeper RC drilling and test the broader potential of our Bullabulling tenure.”

Strategic Positioning Amid Regional Consolidation

The Bullabulling Project remains a rare independent tenure in a region increasingly dominated by Minerals 260, which recently expanded its landholding from 130 square kilometres to 1,160 square kilometres through acquisitions. WA Gold’s 100% owned Bullabulling Project, comprising 21 prospecting and exploration licences, covers extensions of the same north–south trending gold belt that hosts the multi-million ounce Bullabulling deposit.

This strategic positioning between two major gold projects provides WA Gold with a unique opportunity to explore structural extensions and untested zones of mineralisation within a well-endowed gold corridor.

Progress at Abercromby and Heritage Engagement

Meanwhile, WA Gold is advancing resource development drilling at its flagship Abercromby project, with drilling expected to commence before the end of August and assay results anticipated from mid-September. The company is also progressing a Heritage Agreement with the Marlinyu Ghoorlie Native Title Group to support the escalation of exploration activities at Bullabulling, underscoring its commitment to responsible project development.

Bottom Line?

WA Gold’s methodical integration of geochemical anomalies with upcoming geophysical data sets a clear path for targeted drilling, but assay results and SAM survey outcomes will be critical to validate the emerging gold system’s commercial potential.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the upcoming SAM survey confirm structural controls that support higher-grade mineralisation?
  • How will WA Gold’s independent tenure fare amid Minerals 260’s regional consolidation?
  • Can the pending assays from one-metre samples sharpen the focus for deeper drilling?
