Dreadnought Resources Ltd (ASX:DRE) has unveiled multiple robust gold-in-soil anomalies stretching over approximately 20 kilometres at the High Range North and Northwest prospects within its expansive Mangaroon Gold Project in Western Australia. This marks the first time gold-focused exploration has been conducted in this part of the Edmund Group, despite historical prospecting hints and geological parallels to the nearby Bangemall Goldfield at Cobra.
Managing Director Dean Tuck emphasised the significance of these findings, noting that the anomalies align closely with major crustal structures identified in magnetic surveys, suggesting a credible structural control on mineralisation. The discovery of these anomalies without prior modern exploration highlights the underexplored nature of the High Range area and its potential to host orogenic gold deposits.

The High Range North and Northwest targets cover a camp-scale area of roughly 20km by 6km, situated within metasediments, mafic intrusives, and chemical formations of the 1.67 billion-year-old Edmund Group. These lie near significant shear zones, the Edmund and Collins shears, which are splays off the major Minga Bar Fault. Such geological and structural settings are well known to be prospective for orogenic gold systems.
Recent soil surveys, employing ultra-fine fraction sampling and rigorous assay protocols, have delineated several strong gold anomalies accompanied by pathfinder elements including silver, arsenic, molybdenum, antimony, and tellurium, with occasional copper, lead, and zinc. These geochemical signatures are typical of orogenic gold mineralisation and provide compelling drill targets.

The High Range anomalies add to a growing portfolio of camp-scale prospects across the Mangaroon Project, which covers some 5,000 square kilometres. Other significant prospects include Bordah, Alma, Minga Bar, and the Star of Mangaroon, the latter hosting a resource of 27,000 ounces of high-grade gold averaging 11.1 g/t. Dreadnought’s approach combines modern geochemical and geophysical techniques to explore beneath shallow cover, a method that has already uncovered stronger and larger signatures than historical mines in the region.
The company’s strategy to become a self-funded explorer leverages a high-grade open pit at Star of Mangaroon, outsourcing development and processing to third parties to reduce capital reliance. This model supports ongoing exploration activities aimed at delivering transformative discoveries like those now emerging at High Range.
Upcoming Catalysts and Broader Project Highlights
Dreadnought has a busy news calendar ahead, with an upgraded JORC Exploration Target for Gifford Creek due in August, alongside further updates from Mangaroon’s target definition work. Air core drilling campaigns are set to commence at Illaara Gold’s Black Oak and CRA Homestead prospects, while results from tungsten target definition at Mangaroon and Mangaroon South are expected by November.
The company also continues to develop its critical minerals portfolio at Gifford Creek, where rare earth and niobium resources have been delineated, and advances nickel-copper-PGE exploration at the Money Intrusion project under a farm-in agreement with Teck Resources.
