First Au Confirms New High-Grade Gold Target Near Kalgoorlie
First Au Limited has identified a promising new gold mineralisation zone at its Kims prospect near Kalgoorlie, with surface samples grading up to 4.93g/t Au, supporting its expanding Western Australian portfolio.
- High-grade gold assays up to 4.93g/t Au at Kims prospect
- New mineralisation target found on recently acquired Kalgoorlie tenements
- Kims prospect located 2.6km from Zijin Mining’s Paddington Gold Mill
- Initial fieldwork mapped 30 historic workings in previously unreported area
- Further assays pending as exploration continues across 20 tenements
High-Grade Gold Surface Samples Highlight New Target at Kims Prospect
First Au Limited (ASX:FAU) has unveiled encouraging early results from its maiden field campaign on two of its 20 recently acquired tenements in the Kalgoorlie region. Rock chip samples collected at the Kims prospect returned gold grades up to 4.93 grams per tonne (g/t) and 3.48 g/t, marking a fresh mineralisation target that had previously escaped detailed exploration.
Located just 2.6 kilometres north of the 3.7 million tonnes per annum Paddington Gold Mill, owned by Zijin Mining Group, the Kims prospect sits within a highly prospective geological setting. The proximity to an established processing facility adds a layer of strategic value to the discovery, though it remains early days for the project.
Field Mapping Reveals Extensive Historic Workings Amid Quartz Outcrops
Systematic geological mapping and surface sampling conducted by Golden Strike Geological Services identified approximately 30 historic workings scattered across the Kims prospect. These workings are situated at the contact zone between basalt and ultramafic units within the Norseman-Wiluna belt, a region known for structurally controlled gold mineralisation associated with quartz veins.
The discovery of this previously unreported cluster of workings and quartz outcropping underscores the potential for overlooked targets within First Au’s expanded Kalgoorlie tenure. Historical drilling at Kims has been limited to just four aircore holes, highlighting the early-stage nature of this opportunity.
Broader Exploration Program Advances as Assays Awaited
First Au’s Executive Chairman, Daniel Raihani, emphasised the company’s strategic approach to unlocking value from its recent acquisitions. “These initial results from just two tenements provide a promising indication of the potential within our expanded Kalgoorlie portfolio,” Raihani said. “With ongoing fieldwork and further assays pending, we remain optimistic about advancing our Western Australian gold strategy.”
The company is actively reviewing the Kims prospect data alongside desktop studies to determine the optimal next steps, which may include prioritising drill targets. Meanwhile, systematic exploration continues across the broader portfolio, with assay results from additional samples expected in due course.
Sampling Methodology and Reporting Compliance
The surface rock chip samples were collected using standard grab sampling techniques by qualified professionals and assayed at Bureau Veritas Atabara Facility via Lead Fire Assay. While these results are encouraging, First Au cautions that surface sampling is indicative only and does not confirm the presence of economic mineralisation at depth. Further drilling and detailed exploration will be necessary to validate the findings.
This amended announcement replaces the company’s original release dated 13 August 2026, providing a balanced and comprehensive report in line with ASX Listing Rule 5.6 and the JORC Code (2012 Edition).
Bottom Line?
The Kims prospect’s high-grade surface assays near a major gold mill are a promising early signal, but drilling will be critical to assess economic potential.
Questions in the middle?
- Will upcoming assays from the broader Kalgoorlie portfolio reinforce the initial high-grade findings?
- How will First Au prioritise drill targets amid its expanded tenement holdings?
- Could proximity to Zijin’s Paddington mill influence development timelines if a resource is defined?
