QX Resources Limited (ASX:QXR) has taken a major step forward with its Madaba Uranium Project in southern Tanzania, announcing a JORC Code (2012) compliant Exploration Target ranging between 20 and 30 million tonnes grading 400 to 500 ppm equivalent uranium oxide (eU3O8). This translates to approximately 18 to 33 million pounds of contained U3O8, prioritising higher-grade mineralisation most relevant to potential open-pit mining scenarios.

The target is based on reinterpreted historic drilling and trenching data from 1979 to 1982 by Uranerzbergbau GmbH, which has been digitised and incorporated into a comprehensive three-dimensional geological model by The MSA Group. This advanced technical foundation places Madaba ahead of many early-stage uranium projects, allowing QXR to focus its maiden drilling program on well-defined, drill-ready targets.

Robust Historical Data Underpins Exploration Strategy

Historic drilling has revealed high-grade near-surface uranium mineralisation, including intercepts such as 15 metres at 612 ppm U3O8 and 7 metres at 693 ppm, confirming strong supergene enrichment within the upper 5 to 10 metres. The project covers key prospects like Nane, Sita, Nyuki, and Tatu, with nine priority targets identified for immediate testing.

Non-Executive Director Russell Bradford, drawing on his experience with the nearby Nyota Uranium Deposit, highlighted the geological parallels between the projects, noting the shared Karoo sandstone host and mineralisation style. He emphasised the advantage of Madaba’s digitised and modelled dataset, which allows for efficient progression toward a maiden Mineral Resource without starting from scratch.

Pathway to Maiden Mineral Resource and Development

QXR plans a detailed airborne geophysical survey in the second half of 2026 to refine drill targets, followed by a maiden drilling campaign targeting the nine priority zones. The program aims to verify historical high-grade intercepts, extend mineralisation along strike and at depth, and generate sufficient data density for resource estimation.

Subsequent steps include rigorous data verification, twinning of historical holes with modern drilling, comprehensive 3D geological modelling, and preparation of a maiden JORC Mineral Resource Estimate focused on Inferred and Indicated categories. Early-stage metallurgical testwork and environmental baseline studies are also planned to support future development pathways.

Strategic Position in a Growing Uranium Market

Madaba’s location in the Luwegu Basin places it in the same geological setting as the Nyota Uranium Deposit, which hosts an estimated 125–152 million pounds of U3O8 at around 300 ppm. While geological similarity does not guarantee equivalent size or grade, the comparison underscores Madaba’s potential.

The project benefits from Tanzania’s stable, mining-friendly regulatory environment and proximity to existing infrastructure. This context, combined with a global uranium market supported by clean-energy transitions and nuclear power expansion, frames Madaba as a compelling early-stage uranium opportunity.
