Nelson Resources (ASX:NES) has uncovered copper oxide mineralisation dominated by chrysocolla, with minor malachite and chalcocite, in dump and float material within its southern Gold Point licence area in Nevada. This discovery sits roughly 1.5 kilometres east of the Le Champ Cu-Mo-Au porphyry target, within the 100%-owned Sylvania Intrusive Complex claims.
The mineralisation was identified during recent field reconnaissance, where narrow bornite-chalcopyrite veinlets were also noted in outcrop adjacent to historical workings. These veinlets align with the regional structural system that hosts high-grade gold-silver veins elsewhere at Gold Point, suggesting a structural continuity that ties copper and precious metal mineralisation.
Historical Sampling Supports Broader Copper Potential
This new observation builds on earlier rock-chip sampling results from across the Gold Point Project, which returned significant copper values including a standout 4.88% Cu (48,800 ppm) from a malachite and chalcopyrite-bearing vein. Multiple other samples yielded elevated copper levels between 1,000 and 3,000 ppm, underpinning the broader copper potential within the Sylvania Intrusive Complex.
The presence of copper oxides some 1.5 km east of Le Champ and about 3 km southwest of the highest-grade copper sample signals a district-scale footprint that Nelson is keen to delineate systematically.
Systematic Soil Sampling Targets Multi-Element Footprint
To that end, Nelson has launched a first-pass multi-element soil sampling program across the southern licence area. The program consists of two main lines spaced 200 metres apart, with samples taken every 50 metres. It aims to cover both the copper porphyry/skarn targets and the intrusion-hosted sheeted quartz vein systems that carry gold-silver mineralisation.
Samples are being analysed at ALS Minerals in Reno for a suite of elements including Au, Ag, Cu, Mo, Bi, Te, W, As, Pb, and Zn. Results are anticipated in 6-8 weeks and will be integrated with existing geological mapping, geophysics, and previously reported high-grade gold-silver and copper data.

Historic production at Gold Point includes approximately 75,000 ounces of gold at high grades, mainly from four of fifteen mapped high-grade gold-silver veins.
Nelson’s consolidation of the district under a single owner for the first time in over 140 years enables a camp-scale exploration approach.
