Significant Contract Wins Boost Verbrec's Energy Security Footprint

Verbrec Limited (ASX:VBC) has secured approximately $16 million worth of new contracts focused on critical gas infrastructure projects across Australia. These awards include a $6.8 million engineering, procurement, and construction contract for in-line inspection facilities on a 150-kilometre Queensland pipeline. The project, scheduled for completion by March 2028, involves detailed design and construction of pig launcher and receiver facilities, vital for assessing pipeline integrity.

Additional contracts valued at around $7.2 million cover pipeline, compression, and operations services in Queensland, Northern Territory, Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia. These include an owners engineer role for a South Australian pipeline realignment, valued at $2.7 million, and multi-year operations and maintenance agreements across multiple states, underpinning recurring revenue streams for Verbrec.

Alliance Automation Expands Role in Cyber Security

Verbrec’s wholly owned subsidiary, Alliance Automation, has secured approximately $1.6 million in contracts delivering electrical, control system, and cyber security upgrades for Queensland energy assets. The work includes operational technology cyber security uplift programs and SCADA system migrations, reflecting the growing regulatory and threat-driven demand for enhanced infrastructure protection. This aligns with Alliance Automation’s strategic positioning as a turnkey provider in operational technology security.

Renewable Gas Expertise Strengthened by Biomethane Study

Beyond traditional gas infrastructure, Verbrec has completed a Biomethane Potential Study for the Western Australian Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. As lead author, Verbrec assessed the state's renewable gas prospects from waste and crop residues, mapping out the economic and engineering requirements for initial projects. This study complements Verbrec’s growing footprint in renewable gas, building on prior work such as the Broadlands Biogas Upgrade in New Zealand and feasibility studies for new biogas facilities.

Strategic Positioning Amid Energy Supply Challenges

These contract awards contribute to over $36 million in energy security projects won by Verbrec since the start of the financial year, spanning seven clients and multiple jurisdictions including Papua New Guinea. The timing coincides with Australian Energy Market Operator forecasts highlighting gas supply shortfalls from 2029, particularly in southern Australia, driving the need for new infrastructure investment. Verbrec’s comprehensive service offering, from engineering to operations and cyber security, positions it well to capitalise on the sustained reinvestment cycle in Australia’s gas sector.

Notably, the Northern Territory’s Beetaloo Sub-basin development, backed by government and private investment, represents a significant growth opportunity. Verbrec’s involvement in pipeline upgrades and operations in the region aligns with broader infrastructure needs supporting emerging gas production and related industries, such as data centres.
