Nimy Resources (ASX:NIM) has unveiled compelling metallurgical test results from its high-grade Block 3 gallium and rare earth element (REE) resource at the Mons Project in Western Australia. The early-stage testwork demonstrated gallium extraction of 84% alongside rare earth extraction between 80% and 95%, validating a proprietary flowsheet developed specifically for the unique Block 3 mineralisation. This breakthrough provides a robust technical foundation for advancing process design and economic evaluation.

Block 3 Resource Remains a Global Outlier in Grade

Block 3 stands out as one of the world’s highest-grade gallium deposits, boasting a maiden JORC Inferred Resource of 2,700 tonnes of contained gallium trioxide and 32,600 tonnes of total rare earth oxides at a 20 g/t Ga2O3 cut-off. The resource is currently limited to oxide and transition zones near surface but remains open at depth and along strike, with exploration targets suggesting significant upside potential. This positions Nimy to potentially fill a critical supply gap for gallium and rare earths outside China’s dominant market.

Collaborative Research Drives Process Optimisation

In partnership with Strategic Metallurgy and Curtin University, Nimy is progressing beneficiation, reagent, and flowsheet optimisation studies. These efforts aim to refine the baseline flowsheet, which already demonstrates technical viability for producing a mixed gallium–REE intermediate product. Additionally, a Mineral Research Institute of Western Australia (MRIWA)-supported project is underway to deepen understanding of mineralogical controls and enhance recovery rates through three stages: metallurgical characterisation, hydrometallurgical extraction, and gallium compound production.
