Drilling Campaign Aims to Define Maiden Gold Resource

Talonx Resources (ASX:TXR) is preparing a new reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Beaker 2 Prospect, part of its Viking Gold Project in Western Australia. The objective is clear: advance Beaker 2 toward a maiden Mineral Resource estimate by expanding and better defining the gold mineralisation footprint.

The Beaker 2 zone already boasts a shallow oxide gold system spanning roughly 400m by 300m, confirmed through a 13-hole, 1,110-metre RC program completed earlier this year. All ten holes at Beaker 2 intersected gold mineralisation at shallow depths between 20m and 40m, and crucially, the mineralised zone remains open to the west as well as along strike to the north and south.

High-Grade Intercepts Drive Step-Out Drilling

The upcoming drilling will focus on step-out holes to test extensions of a standout high-grade intercept from drillhole 26VKRC010, which returned 4 metres at 22.1 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 31 metres, including 2 metres at 42.4 g/t Au from 32 metres. This mineralisation is associated with strong quartz veining within sheared granite host rocks and remains open both along strike and down-dip.

Follow-up drilling will probe whether this high-grade quartz-vein mineralisation continues into fresh rock beyond the current drilling footprint. This is a critical test for the prospect’s potential to host a significant underground resource.

Infill Drilling to Enhance Resource Confidence

Alongside the extensional drilling, Talonx plans infill RC holes within the shallow oxide gold zone to tighten drill spacing. This densification is aimed at improving geological and grade continuity, which is essential for supporting an initial Mineral Resource estimate.

The combined extensional and infill drilling approach reflects a methodical progression from early-stage exploration toward resource definition, an important milestone for any junior gold explorer.

Viking Project’s Geological Setting and Future Steps

The Viking Gold Project covers 66 square kilometres within the Albany–Fraser Province, a region known for high-grade metamorphic terranes with gold mineralisation linked to quartz veins in granite host rocks. Beaker 2 stands out as Talonx’s highest-priority target, featuring a broad, shallow oxide gold zone and promising high-grade quartz-vein mineralisation.

Planning for the drilling program is nearing completion, with further details expected as the company moves toward execution. Following the program, Talonx will assess results and, if positive, advance toward an initial Mineral Resource estimate for Beaker 2.

Talonx’s Executive Chairman, Dr Steve Lennon, emphasised the significance of Beaker 2, highlighting the confidence the company has in the prospect’s resource potential based on recent drilling results.
