Verity Resources has renewed four prospecting licences in Botswana, safeguarding its stake in high-grade copper-silver and nickel-copper-PGE projects including Airstrip, Dibete, and Maibele North for another two years.
- Four prospecting licences renewed for two years in eastern Botswana
- Secures tenure over high-grade copper-silver discoveries and a 2.4Mt nickel-copper-PGE inferred resource
- Historical drilling highlights exceptional copper and silver grades at Airstrip and Dibete
- Soil sampling underway over 903km² area with assays pending
- Strategic proximity to NexMetals’ Selebi Mines and processing infrastructure
Licence Renewals Cement Verity’s Position in Botswana’s Limpopo Belt
Verity Resources Limited (ASX:VRL) has secured a crucial two-year renewal of four prospecting licences covering its core assets in eastern Botswana. The licences encompass the Airstrip and Dibete copper-silver discoveries alongside the Maibele North nickel-copper-PGE resource, collectively representing the company’s flagship projects in the Limpopo Mobile Belt.
The renewed tenure ensures Verity retains control over a portfolio that includes a significant JORC (2012) Inferred Mineral Resource at Maibele North of 2.4 million tonnes grading 0.72% nickel, 0.21% copper, and 0.63g/t combined platinum group elements and gold. This resource remains open along strike and at depth, offering potential upside amid a strengthening critical metals market.
Historical Drilling Confirms Exceptional Copper-Silver Grades
Airstrip and Dibete stand out for their high-grade copper and silver mineralisation. At Airstrip, drilling has delivered bonanza-style intercepts such as 11 metres at 7.63% copper and 462g/t silver from 52 metres, including narrower intervals with copper grades exceeding 20% and silver over 1,000g/t. Similarly, Dibete has yielded thick, high-grade intercepts including 25 metres at 2.17% copper and 77g/t silver, with mineralisation largely untested below approximately 120 metres.
These results highlight the potential for large-scale, high-value copper-silver deposits in a district that has seen limited recent drilling activity but remains geologically prospective. The licences cover less than 10% of Verity’s total Botswana ground, with regional VTEM geophysical surveys identifying 23 untested anomalies that could represent further targets.
Strategic Location Near Active Mining and Processing Infrastructure
Verity’s holdings lie within trucking distance of the Selebi and Selebi North nickel-copper-cobalt mines and the adjacent Selebi Phikwe concentrator and smelter complex, currently under redevelopment by NexMetals Mining Corp. NexMetals’ recent US$150 million Letter of Interest from the US Export-Import Bank underscores renewed institutional focus on the district, which hosts a combined NI 43-101 resource of 24.7 million tonnes at 3.42% copper equivalent (Inferred) and 3.0 million tonnes at 2.92% copper equivalent (Indicated).
Verity’s Director Patrick Volpe emphasised the strategic importance of maintaining tenure in this corridor, noting the company’s intention to capitalise on the district’s evolving dynamics and its own high-grade copper-silver discoveries.
Ongoing Exploration Efforts Include Extensive Soil Sampling
The company continues to advance exploration with a soil sampling program over a newly granted 903km² licence (PL123/2024) adjacent to its existing portfolio. Samples are being sent to ALS South Africa for assay, with results pending. This campaign aims to prioritise targets for follow-up geophysical surveys and drilling, potentially expanding Verity’s footprint in the region.
Verity’s Botswana projects sit within a stable, mining-friendly jurisdiction with established infrastructure and growing activity, positioning the company to leverage both its existing resources and exploration upside.
Bottom Line?
Renewed licences secure Verity’s foothold in a high-potential copper-nickel district, setting the stage for exploration progress amid regional mine revitalisation.
Questions in the middle?
- Will upcoming soil sampling assays reveal new high-grade targets beyond current prospects?
- How will NexMetals’ redevelopment of Selebi Mines influence Verity’s project economics and strategic options?
- What exploration timelines and capital plans will Verity pursue to advance Airstrip, Dibete, and Maibele North?
