Xpedra’s Deepest Drilling Confirms Depth Extensions at Springfield Deposit

Mining By Maxwell Dee 4 min read

Xpedra Resources has unveiled its deepest drilling results at the Springfield Gold Deposit in NSW, confirming broad, continuous gold mineralisation over 400 metres of strike and extending the deposit's known depth.

  • Deepest drilling returns broad gold intercepts
  • Mineralisation continuous over 400m strike and open at depth
  • High-grade zones include 13m @ 10.21g/t Au from 81m
  • Third-phase drilling planned to target undrilled northern strike and depth
  • Project well funded with $3.1 million cash

Deep Drilling Unlocks New Depth Potential

Xpedra Resources (ASX:XPD) has pushed the boundaries of its Springfield Gold Deposit in New South Wales with its deepest reverse circulation (RC) drilling to date, delivering some of the project’s most compelling assay results. Four holes comprising nearly 900 metres of drilling have confirmed broad zones of gold mineralisation extending to depths previously untested, significantly increasing the known vertical extent of the deposit.

Highlights from these latest holes include 64 metres at 1.34 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 140 metres (SFRC030), and 27 metres at 1.50 g/t gold from 140 metres (SFRC031). These deeper intersections complement earlier standout results such as 94 metres at 2.00 g/t gold from 80 metres, which included a high-grade 13 metres at 10.21 g/t gold interval (SFRC025). Notably, many of the best grades have come from these deeper holes, underscoring the deposit’s scale potential.

Continuity Along Strike and at Depth

The drilling has delineated continuous mineralisation over at least 400 metres of strike length, with excellent down-dip continuity from surface to at least 150 metres below. Importantly, the mineralised system remains completely open both at depth and along strike, offering considerable upside for resource growth.

Xpedra’s Managing Director, Scott Funston, emphasised the significance of these findings: “These results significantly increase the known depth extent of the Springfield Gold Deposit and demonstrate excellent down-dip continuity of mineralisation, adding further evidence of the Deposit’s scale potential.”

The company’s drilling strategy has been methodical, with the phase-two holes drilled based solely on visual alteration observations from the maiden program, prior to receiving assay results. This approach has paid off, with all four holes intersecting significant gold mineralisation, including multiple higher-grade intervals above 5 g/t gold.

Untapped Northern Strike and Future Drilling Plans

Beyond the 400-metre strike tested so far, historical shallow air-core drilling has identified a 1.1-kilometre northern extension of the mineralised monzodiorite intrusion that remains untested by modern drilling. This area hosts strong gold and arsenic anomalies, arsenic being a key pathfinder element for gold, that have never been followed up with deeper drilling.

Xpedra is preparing for an extensive third-phase drilling program that will target this northern strike extension as well as down-dip extensions beneath the current drill corridor. The program aims to build on significant high-grade zones already identified and to expand the footprint of the deposit.

With $3.1 million in cash at the end of the June quarter, the company is well positioned to fund this next phase of exploration alongside ongoing soil geochemistry work.

Springfield’s Growing Profile in NSW

The Springfield Gold Deposit, located in the Lachlan Fold Belt, was acquired by Xpedra in late 2025. Historical drilling was limited and shallow, averaging just 35 metres in depth, with no activity since 1999. Xpedra’s drilling has confirmed a sizeable mineralised system with multiple higher-grade zones, continuous over at least 400 metres of strike and showing strong vertical continuity.

The deposit’s geological setting, hosted within Ordovician mafic volcanics and intrusives, is consistent with mesothermal vein-style gold mineralisation, a style known for its potential to host significant gold resources. The ongoing exploration success at Springfield adds to Xpedra’s growing portfolio of NSW gold projects.

Bottom Line?

Xpedra’s latest assays deepen Springfield’s promise, but unlocking its full scale hinges on upcoming third-phase drilling and permit approvals.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the third-phase drilling confirm extensions along the 1.1km northern strike?
  • How might the new depth extensions affect future resource estimates at Springfield?
  • What impact will permit timing have on Xpedra’s exploration momentum?
