Saturn Metals has significantly oversubscribed its Share Purchase Plan, raising $21.28 million against a $5 million target. Combined with a recent $100 million placement, the company now has $121.28 million to accelerate development of its Apollo Hill Gold Project in Western Australia.
- SPP oversubscribed with $21.28 million raised
- Total capital raised now $121.28 million including placement
- Funds to advance Apollo Hill engineering and construction
- 53.19 million new shares issued under SPP
- Ore reserve and resource data confirm substantial gold inventory
Share Purchase Plan Significantly Oversubscribed
Saturn Metals Limited (ASX:STN) has closed its Share Purchase Plan (SPP) with a striking $21.28 million raised, more than quadruple the initial $5 million target. The company opted to accept all valid applications rather than scale back, issuing 53.19 million new shares and increasing total capital raised to $121.28 million when combined with a recent $100 million placement. This substantial injection bolsters Saturn’s balance sheet as it pushes ahead with its flagship Apollo Hill Gold Project in Western Australia.
Capital to Fuel Development and Exploration
The funds from the oversubscribed SPP and placement are earmarked for critical development activities including front-end engineering and design, procurement of long-lead items, construction readiness, statutory approvals, site establishment, and ongoing exploration drilling. Managing Director Ian Bamborough expressed gratitude for shareholder support, emphasising that the additional capital will help maintain momentum both in advancing development and unlocking further value through exploration.
Strengthened Capital Structure and Share Issuance
Following the SPP, Saturn’s total shares on issue will rise to over 850 million, including 16.5 million performance rights and 7.5 million options. The $100 million placement, which is partly subject to Foreign Investment Review Board and shareholder approvals, remains a key component of the company’s funding strategy. This strengthened capital base provides Saturn with greater flexibility as it navigates the complex stages of project development and regulatory compliance.
Robust Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve Base
Supporting the funding drive, Saturn reiterated the substantial mineral resources and ore reserves at Apollo Hill. The project hosts a measured, indicated, and inferred resource totalling 174 million tonnes at 0.51 grams per tonne gold for 2.83 million ounces. Ore reserves stand at 104.6 million tonnes at 0.47 grams per tonne gold, equating to 1.59 million ounces. These figures underpin the project’s potential as a large tonnage, low strip open pit operation with simple metallurgy, located in a prolific gold region with strong infrastructure.
Strategic Positioning in Western Australia’s Goldfields
Apollo Hill lies approximately 60 kilometres southeast of Leonora, surrounded by significant gold deposits and operated by world-class mining companies. Saturn’s 100% ownership of the project and its extensive regional land package offer further exploration upside beyond the current resource base. The company’s recent capital raising efforts come at a time when it is advancing definitive feasibility studies and preparing for construction, positioning it to capitalise on the region’s enduring appeal.
Bottom Line?
Saturn’s successful upsizing of its SPP and combined capital raise significantly enhances its financial firepower to advance Apollo Hill, but upcoming approvals for the placement’s second tranche remain a critical hurdle.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the Foreign Investment Review Board and shareholder approvals for tranche two proceed smoothly?
- How will Saturn allocate the additional funds between development and exploration priorities?
- What impact might the larger capital base have on shareholder dilution and future financing needs?
