Energy Fuels Inc. (ASX:EF2, NYSE American: UUUU) has completed its US$243 million acquisition of Australian Strategic Materials (ASM), marking a significant leap in its ambition to create a fully integrated Western rare earth supply chain. The deal instantly adds ASM’s operational Korean Metals Plant in South Korea, which produces neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) alloys critical for electric vehicle magnets and other high-tech applications.
The Korean Metals Plant currently boasts 1,300 tonnes per year of NdFeB alloy production capacity. Energy Fuels plans to expand this facility to 3,600 tonnes annually, potentially supplying enough alloy for over one million EVs per year, with commissioning targeted as early as the end of 2026. ASM shares have been delisted from the ASX following completion.
