Astoria Drilling Confirms Large-Scale Gold System

Lac Gold Limited (ASX:LAC) has delivered another strong batch of assay results from its 2026 drilling program at the Astoria deposit, part of the Rouyn Gold Project in Québec, Canada. The latest 20 diamond drillholes reveal broad zones of gold mineralisation, including significant higher-grade cores, reinforcing the company’s interpretation of Astoria as a large orogenic gold system along the Cadillac-Larder Lake Break.

Noteworthy intersections include 7.5 metres at 11.17 grams per tonne (g/t) gold in hole AS-26-808, 2.0 metres at 17.08 g/t in AS-26-804, and 2.9 metres at 10.78 g/t in AS-26-802. These higher-grade shoots are embedded within broader mineralised envelopes, such as 86.0 metres at 1.12 g/t in AS-26-806 and 86.6 metres at 0.59 g/t in AS-26-801, highlighting the scale and continuity of the system.

Geological Model Underpinned by Structural Controls

The drilling results continue to support Lac Gold’s geological model that mineralisation is structurally controlled, occurring within broad shear-hosted hydrothermal alteration zones. These alteration envelopes are characterised by pervasive quartz-carbonate veining and disseminated sulphides, formed mainly at the contact between ultramafic volcanic rocks and Timiskaming sedimentary units.

Higher-grade gold mineralisation appears preferentially developed within brittle structural zones associated with lithological flexures and the proximity of diabase dykes. This evolving structural interpretation is guiding more targeted drilling to delineate extensions and infill higher-grade zones within the system.

Resource Growth and Exploration Expansion

The Rouyn Gold Project currently holds an existing Mineral Resource Estimate of 1.66 million ounces of gold at an average grade of 3.28 g/t, classified in the Indicated and Inferred categories. The 2026 drilling program is designed to test internal extensions, offshoots, and areas where the mineralised system may be broader than previously modelled, potentially converting Inferred resources to Indicated and expanding the resource footprint.

Managing Director Andrew Stocks emphasised the ongoing opportunity at Astoria, stating that the company is building a better understanding of the system’s scale and character, which is crucial for efficient targeting of mineralisation extensions. Concurrently, Lac Gold has begun reviewing prospects beyond Astoria within the broader Rouyn Gold Project, aiming to prioritise new targets based on the growing geological knowledge and historical data.

Drilling Progress and Next Steps

As of this announcement, Lac Gold has completed 64 drillholes totalling 24,730 metres in the 2026 program, with assays received for 43 holes. Drilling continues at Astoria, with plans to expand exploration into other project areas. The company intends to incorporate the latest results into an updated Mineral Resource Estimate, which will provide a more robust geological framework for future development and exploration decisions.

While true widths of mineralised intersections remain unknown at this stage, the consistency of broad mineralised intervals with embedded high-grade zones across multiple holes adds confidence to the continuity and scale of the system. Investors will be watching closely for the forthcoming resource update and any indications of expansion beyond the established Astoria footprint.
