Valiant Gold Confirms Deep Extensions at South Emu-Triton with Strong Drilling Results

Valiant Gold’s maiden drilling at South Emu-Triton has delivered significant gold intercepts well below the existing resource, reinforcing the deposit’s growth potential and advancing its development pipeline.

  • Maiden drilling returns multiple high-grade gold intercepts below current resource
  • South Emu-Triton mineralisation extends over 350m strike and 400m depth
  • Deposit remains open at depth with existing underground infrastructure
  • Drilling program completed; focus shifts to Boomerang Gold deposit
  • Technical studies on dewatering and mine restart underway

Strong Gold Intercepts Extend South Emu-Triton Resource

Valiant Gold Limited (ASX:VAL) has revealed compelling assay results from its maiden drilling program at the South Emu-Triton deposit within the Reedy Gold Project. Highlight intercepts include 7.0 metres at 4.57 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 861 metres, featuring a blistering 0.3 metres at 68.80 g/t, and 2.0 metres at 11.49 g/t from 872 metres. These results confirm mineralisation continuing well below the current Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) of 1.7 million tonnes at 4.00 g/t for 224,000 ounces of gold, with the system remaining open down plunge.

The drilling program, comprising 4,436 metres over eight holes, successfully demonstrated mineralised extensions over a strike length exceeding 350 metres and depth extensions of approximately 400 metres below the existing resource. This confirms the Reedy Shear-hosted gold system remains robust and continuous at depth, reinforcing South Emu-Triton’s potential as a key growth asset for Valiant.

Infrastructure and Strategic Positioning Support Development

South Emu-Triton benefits from granted Mining Leases with significant existing underground development, positioning it as a priority restart opportunity within Valiant’s brownfields portfolio. Located just 55 kilometres from processing infrastructure accessible via an Ore Purchase Agreement with Westgold Resources Limited, the deposit offers a near-term pathway to production. Technical studies, including a review of dewatering options, are underway to support potential mine restart decisions.

Valiant’s Managing Director Brendan Tritton emphasised the deposit’s high grade and continuity, noting the drilling results enhance confidence in its quality and growth potential. With the initial drill program now complete, the company has mobilised its diamond rig to the Boomerang Gold deposit, where a maiden drilling campaign targeting resource conversion is underway alongside a second rig.

Integration into Valiant’s Development Pipeline

South Emu-Triton complements Valiant’s lead mine restart workstream at Comet, where dewatering and rehabilitation studies progress steadily. The company’s strategy balances advancing Comet towards production while exploring resource growth and development options at South Emu-Triton and Boomerang. No development decision has yet been made for South Emu-Triton or Boomerang, with future steps contingent on technical reviews, approvals, funding, and sequencing.

Final assay results from the last South Emu-Triton drillhole are expected in September, which will provide further clarity on the deposit’s extent. Meanwhile, Boomerang drilling results are anticipated in the second quarter of FY27, marking the next milestone in Valiant’s exploration and development timeline.

Technical Rigor and Historical Context

The drilling program employed industry-standard diamond core techniques with comprehensive sampling and quality control protocols, ensuring robust data integrity. South Emu-Triton’s mineralisation is situated within the Archean Meekatharra greenstone belt, characterised by shear-hosted gold deposits with complex structural controls. The deposit has a rich history of exploration and mining by multiple operators, including Westgold Resources, from which Valiant demerged earlier this year.

These results build on previous drilling that confirmed mineralisation extending 400 metres below the existing resource, further validating the deposit’s potential as a significant contributor to Valiant’s production ambitions.

Bottom Line?

Valiant’s South Emu-Triton drilling success deepens the resource base and sets the stage for critical technical decisions on mine restart and resource growth.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will the final assay results from the last drillhole influence resource estimation and mine planning?
  • What are the timelines and technical challenges associated with dewatering South Emu-Triton’s underground workings?
  • How might Boomerang’s upcoming drilling results impact Valiant’s overall development strategy and capital allocation?
