Azzuro Confirms High-Grade Copper-Gold Mineralisation Over 550m at Red Hill

Azzuro Resources has locked in high-grade copper-gold zones at its Red Hill project in Mongolia, extending mineralisation over 550 metres of strike and 150 metres depth with new zones identified and Phase 2 drilling underway.

High-Grade Copper-Gold Zones Confirmed at Red Hill

Azzuro Resources PLC (ASX:AZ9) has reported the final batch of assays from its 2026 drilling campaign at the Red Hill Copper-Gold Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) Project in Mongolia, confirming high-grade copper-gold mineralisation extending over approximately 550 metres of strike and down to 150 metres below surface. Notably, this mineralisation remains open in all directions, signalling further exploration upside.

The standout intercept came from drillhole MU2610A, which returned 5.0 metres at 4.92% copper, 0.94 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, and 5.05 g/t silver from 142.5 metres, including a higher-grade 2.0 metres at 11.95% copper and 1.99 g/t gold. This hole was drilled to test the continuity of the massive sulphide system up-dip of a previous intercept, confirming the persistence of a chalcopyrite-rich zone with potential zinc credits.

New Zones Expand Copper and Gold Potential

Beyond the main copper sulphide lens, Azzuro identified a new zone of high-grade copper mineralisation north of the shallow gold corridor in drillhole MU2609, which also confirmed shallow gold mineralisation extending approximately 85 metres west of prior intercepts. MU2609 returned 10.8 metres at 0.45 g/t gold and 10.72 g/t silver from just 7 metres depth, including a higher-grade 1.9 metres at 6.80 g/t gold and 67.30 g/t silver from 49.9 metres.

These findings not only infill a broad gold corridor spanning roughly 600 metres but also open up previously untested areas for copper exploration, highlighting the project's layered mineral system. The shallow gold zone, in particular, was not part of the maiden JORC exploration target, which means it could add new dimensions to the project's resource potential.

Phase 2 Drilling and Geophysical Surveys Underway

Following these encouraging results, Azzuro has commenced a Phase 2 drilling program targeting the shallow gold zone, complemented by a downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) survey across Red Hill. The DHEM is designed to better define the continuity of the massive sulphide system and guide high-impact drillhole placement to test the previously defined Exploration Target of 15 to 30 million tonnes at 0.71% to 0.9% copper and 0.26 to 0.4 g/t gold.

The company is integrating multiple geophysical datasets, including gravity, resistivity, and chargeability, with the ongoing DHEM results to refine exploration targeting. Previous gravity inversions have indicated that mineralisation should extend at depth well below current drill intercepts, a hypothesis that the current drilling program aims to validate.

Metallurgical Testing Initiated

In parallel with drilling, Azzuro has begun preliminary metallurgical flotation testing on representative copper-gold sulphide samples to evaluate metal recoveries and establish initial concentrate grades. These early-stage tests will inform the potential economic viability of the mineralisation and support future development planning.

Managing Director Gan-Ochir Zunduisuren highlighted the significance of confirming mineralisation continuity and identifying new mineralised zones. He emphasised the strategic importance of the shallow gold zone, which is now a focus of the ongoing drilling and geophysical surveys, positioning the company to finalise high-impact drill targets.
