Veteran Geologist Eduard Eshuys Takes Helm at Yandal Resources

Yandal Resources Limited (ASX:YRL) has ushered in a new era with the appointment of Eduard Eshuys as Non-Executive Chair, effective 1 September 2026. Eshuys brings over four decades of mineral exploration and mining leadership, including pivotal roles in discovering major Australian gold deposits such as Plutonic, Bronzewing, and Jundee. His track record extends to executive leadership, having revitalised Sons of Gwalia as CEO, and board experience with companies like DGO Gold and De Grey Mining.

Leadership Transition and Board Refresh

Current Chair Greg Evans will step down from the chairmanship but remain on the board as a Non-Executive Director, ensuring continuity amid the leadership shuffle. Meanwhile, the board bids farewell to long-serving directors Katina Law and Chris Newman, who retired immediately. The most notable departure is CEO Chris Oorschot, who has stepped down from the board but will continue as CEO until the end of November, providing a transition period. Oorschot's tenure is marked by key discoveries at the Arrakis and Siona prospects and the identification of the New England Granite target, all within Yandal’s Ironstone Well-Barwidgee project.

New Expertise Added with Dr Andrew Jackson

Complementing the leadership changes, Dr Andrew Jackson joins as a Non-Executive Director. Jackson brings over 30 years of investment management and capital markets experience, with a strong background in Australian equities and resources sector research. His credentials include executive roles at Vinva Investment Management and Barclays Global Investors, a PhD in Finance, and fellowships with the CFA and Actuaries Institute. His addition signals a strategic emphasis on capital markets insight as Yandal navigates its growth trajectory.

Exploration Momentum Continues Amid Board Changes

These governance changes come as Yandal advances its portfolio in the Yandal and Norseman-Wiluna Greenstone Belts of Western Australia. The Ironstone Well-Barwidgee Gold Project, encompassing 456 km² between the Jundee and Bronzewing mines, holds a 268,000-ounce resource at Flushing Meadows and recent discoveries at Arrakis and Siona. The company is actively delineating these mineralised systems, with ongoing drilling programs targeting extensions and new domains. The Mt McClure Gold Project, acquired in 2022, adds a further 182,200 ounces of gold resources and remains a focus for shallow deposit exploration.

Outgoing Chair Greg Evans highlighted the strength of the new appointments, praising Eshuys for his exploration success and leadership and Jackson for his capital markets expertise. The board acknowledged the departing directors’ contributions, particularly Oorschot’s role in advancing Yandal’s exploration successes. Incoming Chair Eshuys expressed enthusiasm for working with the team to unlock shareholder value, underscoring the company’s promising asset base and capable management.

Bottom Line?

Yandal’s leadership overhaul injects deep exploration and capital markets expertise at a critical juncture, setting the stage for strategic advances in its Western Australian gold projects.
