Sun Silver Drills Broad Silver and Antimony Zones at Maverick Project

Sun Silver continues to reveal extensive silver and antimony mineralisation at its Nevada Maverick Silver Project, with drill hole MV0004 hitting 89 metres at 70g/t silver equivalent and substantial antimony intervals above the current resource.

  • MV0004 intercepts 89m at 70g/t silver equivalent
  • Antimony mineralisation extends 60m above current resource
  • Antimony grades comparable to Perpetua’s Stibnite project
  • Mineralisation extends beyond current resource boundaries

MV0004 Confirms Extensive Silver and Antimony Mineralisation

Sun Silver Limited (ASX:SS1) has reported compelling assay results from drill hole MV0004 at its Maverick Silver Project in Nevada, underscoring the project's dual potential for silver and antimony. The hole delivered a broad 89-metre intersection grading 70 grams per tonne silver equivalent (AgEq), including a higher-grade 38.3-metre section at 100g/t AgEq. Within this, a narrow but spectacular 0.8-metre zone hit 1,296g/t AgEq, highlighting discrete high-grade silver shoots within the broader mineralised system.

Beyond silver, MV0004 intercepted significant antimony mineralisation approximately 60 metres above the current Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE), with cumulative antimony intervals exceeding 100 metres. The antimony grades averaged around 0.06% Sb, including zones up to 0.1% Sb over substantial widths, comparable to grades reported at Perpetua Resources Corp.'s Stibnite Gold Project in Idaho, a recognised benchmark in critical mineral resources.

Antimony Emerges as a Strategic Critical Mineral

Antimony's presence at Maverick Silver adds a strategic dimension to the project, given its critical role in US defence, energy storage, and electronics sectors. The United States remains heavily reliant on imports for antimony, making domestic sources highly valuable. Sun Silver’s results suggest antimony mineralisation not only coexists with silver and gold but also extends beyond the current resource boundaries, potentially increasing the project's scale and value.

The company is actively assessing the distribution and continuity of antimony mineralisation through ongoing multi-element assays and drilling. While a formal Mineral Resource for antimony has yet to be established, the broad intervals and continuity observed in MV0004 reinforce its potential economic significance.

Drilling Supports Geological Models and Resource Growth

Drilling at Maverick Silver continues to validate Sun Silver’s geological and mineralisation models. MV0004 was drilled within the south-central portion of the existing Mineral Resource and successfully intersected predicted mineralised zones while revealing mineralisation outside current MRE limits. The deposit remains open along strike and at depth, with multiple intercepts beyond the current resource envelope.

The company’s approach includes infill drilling to increase resource confidence and step-out holes to test extensions. The broad-scale mineralisation, both silver and antimony, supports ongoing resource expansion ambitions, aligning with previous drilling results and the company’s broader exploration strategy.

Maverick Silver Project Positioned in Premier Mining Jurisdiction

The Maverick Silver Project hosts a JORC Inferred Mineral Resource of 237 million tonnes grading 45.5g/t silver and 0.3g/t gold, equating to 347 million ounces of silver and 2.25 million ounces of gold. Located 85km from Elko, Nevada, the project benefits from proximity to world-class operations such as Barrick’s Carlin Mine and sits within Nevada, ranked the top mining jurisdiction globally by the Fraser Institute in 2025.

Sun Silver’s exploration work, including recent drilling, is focused on unlocking the project's full potential, especially by integrating the emerging antimony opportunity alongside its substantial silver-gold inventory.

Next Steps in Assessing Antimony and Resource Expansion

While the silver-gold resource base is well established, the economic potential of antimony mineralisation remains to be fully evaluated. Sun Silver plans further drilling targeting shallow antimony zones and extensions along the mineralised trend. Metallurgical testing and geological interpretation are ongoing to understand recovery potential and refine resource estimates.

The evolving picture at Maverick Silver suggests a multi-commodity project with critical mineral credentials, but the scale and economic viability of antimony remain open questions pending further assay and metallurgical results. The company’s progress in these areas will be key to watch in the coming months.

Bottom Line?

Sun Silver’s latest drill results at Maverick reinforce its dual silver and antimony potential, but the economic significance of antimony awaits further definition.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will ongoing assays refine the understanding of antimony’s extent and grade at Maverick?
  • What metallurgical challenges or opportunities might antimony present alongside silver and gold?
  • Could antimony mineralisation materially influence the project’s development timeline or economics?
