Austin Metals has sharpened two gold exploration models after 21 RC holes produced a standout 12-metre intersection at Brunswick Hill, including 1 metre at 12.70 g/t gold. The results also point to previously untested structural targets at Mt Sandy, although the drilling remains early-stage and true widths are not yet known.

Brunswick Hill Produces the Standout Intercept
Austin Metals Limited (ASX:AYT) has emerged from its latest drilling campaign with a more compelling target at Brunswick Hill, where hole 26BHRC006 returned 12 metres at 1.67 g/t gold from 21 metres. The interval included 7 metres at 2.70 g/t and a peak 1-metre assay of 12.70 g/t from 26 metres.
That result came from a 10-hole, 2,198-metre reconnaissance program across five targets along roughly 3 kilometres of prospective banded iron formation. Other results were more modest, including 4 metres at 0.56 g/t from 48 metres in 26BHRC001 and 1 metre at 1.04 g/t from 110 metres in the same hole. Holes at Targets D and E returned no significant results, a reminder that the mineralisation is not spread evenly through the BIF corridor.
Structural Shoots Become the Working Model
Austin says the Brunswick Hill results support a structurally controlled BIF-hosted gold system, with mineralisation concentrated where northeast- and northwest-trending structures intersect favourable BIF units. The company’s working model allows for discrete sulphide-replacement or structural shoots, as well as mineralised shears extending into adjacent mafic and sedimentary rocks.
The main Brunswick Hill mineralised zone now extends about 500 metres along strike and 140 metres down dip in the area tested, remaining open in both directions. The next question is whether the high-grade component in 26BHRC006 belongs to the principal trend or is controlled by a cross-cutting structure. That distinction will shape how the next holes are placed.
Mt Sandy Model Points to Untested Lodes
At Mt Sandy, 11 holes totalling 2,017 metres returned a different but complementary result: the geology has become clearer. The best assays were 4 metres at 1.07 g/t from 32 metres in 26MSRC008, including a 1-metre peak of 3.03 g/t, and 2 metres at 1.61 g/t from 32 metres in 26MSRC003.
Austin now interprets the gold as being associated with a differentiated, high-titanium dolerite sill rather than simply a sheared contact between basalt and intermediate rocks. Preliminary observations suggest higher-grade zones may occur where the west-dipping mineralised contact meets cross-cutting or linking structures. The interpreted trend extends for up to about 2 kilometres along strike and has been traced roughly 300 metres down dip, remaining open at depth.
Exploration Pipeline Still Needs Testing
The company plans to combine three-dimensional interpretation, UAV high-resolution magnetics, multispectral imagery, petrography and additional geochemistry before ranking the next RC targets. Follow-up drilling is intended to test Mt Sandy’s potential cross-cutting lodes, the lateral extent of the Brunswick Hill high-grade interval and further BIF targets to the south.
For investors, the encouraging part is the improvement in target definition rather than any immediate resource implication. The holes were designed for first-pass exploration, spacing is insufficient for a Mineral Resource, and all quoted widths are down-hole lengths rather than confirmed true widths. Geological comparisons with Break of Day, Great Fingall and the Vadrians deposit are conceptual analogies only; they do not establish equivalent grade, scale or continuity.
Bottom Line?
The next drilling round must show whether Brunswick Hill’s high grade and Mt Sandy’s structural model produce repeatable widths and continuity beyond isolated intercepts.
