Culpeo Minerals has started a four-hole, 2,000-metre maiden diamond drilling programme at Vista Montana, testing a copper-molybdenum target north-east of its Lana Corina discovery. The company is also using IP surveys to refine targets, while assays from El Quillay South returned several narrow copper-gold intersections.

Vista Montana Drilling Tests Lana Corina Extension
Culpeo Minerals Limited (ASX:CPO) has moved from target generation to drilling at Vista Montana, launching a four-hole, 2,000-metre maiden diamond programme in Chile. The prospect lies about 1km north-east of the Lana Corina copper-molybdenum discovery and is interpreted to sit within the same north-northeast trending mineralised corridor.
The first hole, CMVMD001, is planned to reach 600 metres and will test a large demagnetised zone interpreted to coincide with porphyry-style copper-molybdenum mineralisation. Culpeo says Vista Montana has been defined through magnetic surveys, geological mapping, soil and rock-chip sampling, with copper- and gold-bearing quartz veins and breccias identified along the target corridor.
Wide Lana Corina Intersections Set the Test
The programme’s significance rests partly on what lies nearby. Previous Lana Corina drilling has produced broad copper-equivalent intersections, including 454 metres at 0.96% CuEq from 90 metres and 257 metres at 1.10% CuEq from 170 metres. Other reported intervals include 173 metres at 1.09% CuEq, 169 metres at 1.21% CuEq and 81 metres at 1.14% CuEq.
Those results do not establish continuity at Vista Montana. The new drilling is explicitly intended to test the mineralised system’s continuity, scale and depth potential, making the early holes more important as geological tests than as a resource statement. Culpeo says the programme could be extended depending on geological observations and initial results; no drilling results from Vista Montana have yet been reported.
IP Surveys Add a Second Targeting Layer
Culpeo has also started a TITAN DCIP survey across Lana Corina and Vista Montana. Six east-west lines covering 9.6 line kilometres are planned at Vista Montana, alongside a 1.8-kilometre north-west to south-east line at the Lana Corina deposit. Two Vista Montana lines had been completed by the announcement date.
The survey is designed to image resistivity and chargeability to depths exceeding 500 metres. In practical terms, the company is looking for subsurface signatures associated with disseminated sulphides while also mapping alteration and geological structures. Results are expected within a week of the survey’s planned mid-September completion, creating a near-term data point alongside the drilling.
El Quillay South Delivers Narrower Assay Hits
At the separate El Quillay South area within the Fortuna Project, two holes have now been completed for 505.95 metres. Assays from CMQD004 included a 5.5-metre interval at 0.40% CuEq from 68.7 metres, including 1.9 metres at 1.32% CuEq, plus a 1.5-metre interval at 1.27% CuEq from 233 metres.
The hole also returned a 0.6-metre section at 1.71% CuEq and a 0.5-metre section at 2.11% CuEq. These are relatively narrow intervals, and the announcement states that true widths are unknown. Results from CMQD005 are expected in roughly three weeks, while two further holes totalling 400 metres are planned along strike.
Drilling Results Remain the Decisive Catalyst
Culpeo’s exploration case now has several moving parts: Vista Montana must demonstrate whether the Lana Corina-style system extends into a new prospect, the IP survey may sharpen or expand the drill targets, and El Quillay South still has pending assays. CuEq figures rely on the company’s stated metal-price and recovery assumptions, and the filing does not report a mineral resource or economic assessment.

The next meaningful test is whether Vista Montana drilling turns a promising geophysical and surface footprint into continuous copper-molybdenum mineralisation at depth.
