Gateway Mining lands major backing for Yandal gold exploration

Gateway Mining has secured firm commitments for a A$45 million placement, including A$20 million from Jupiter Asset Management, to fund an aggressive exploration campaign at its Yandal Gold Project. The raising follows a high-grade Cowza result and will issue 562.5 million new shares at a discount to market.

  • A$45 million placement at A$0.08 per share
  • A$20 million cornerstone commitment from Jupiter Asset Management
  • Approximately 120,000 metres of planned drilling across Yandal
  • Cowza intercept of 41 metres at 2.0g/t gold, including 9 metres at 7.5g/t
  • 562.5 million new shares to be issued

Gateway Mining Limited (ASX:GML) has raised A$45 million from institutional, professional and sophisticated investors, giving the junior gold explorer the financial firepower to substantially increase drilling at its Yandal Gold Project in Western Australia. The placement was heavily supported, with global natural resources investor Jupiter Asset Management committing A$20 million.

The capital comes after a headline Cowza intercept of 41 metres at 2.0 grams per tonne gold, including 9 metres at 7.5g/t. Gateway says the result confirms a substantial high-grade primary gold system in fresh rock, although the intercept is an exploration result rather than a declaration of a mineral resource or evidence of economic viability.

A$45 Million Placement Strengthens Exploration Funding

Gateway will issue 562.5 million fully paid ordinary shares at A$0.08 each. That price represents a 16.7% discount to the last closing price of A$0.096 and a 9.1% discount to the 15-day volume-weighted average price of A$0.088. The new shares will rank equally with existing ordinary shares and are expected to be issued on 16 September 2026, subject to settlement.

The company said demand exceeded the amount raised and that the book included existing shareholders as well as new specialist institutions. Gateway reported approximately A$15.1 million in cash and liquid securities at 30 June 2026, meaning the placement is intended to move the company from a relatively modest exploration program to a substantially larger campaign. The company has requested reinstatement of its securities to official quotation.

Cowza Anchors 120,000 Metre Yandal Campaign

Gateway says the funds will underpin approximately 120,000 metres of drilling across the Yandal project. Detailed allocations in the announcement focus on reverse-circulation and diamond drilling at Cowza, Haflinger, Dusk ’til Dawn, Horse Well and Celia South, alongside resource growth and estimation work.

The company describes a mineralised corridor extending more than 13 kilometres across Cowza, Celia South and Ward, with significant areas still untested at depth and along strike. The next results should therefore do more than add isolated intercepts: they are expected to test the continuity, geometry and scale of the mineralisation. That distinction matters in exploration, where a strong drill result can broaden a target without yet establishing a coherent resource.

Regional Exploration Remains in the Funding Plan

Not all of the new money is earmarked for the immediate Cowza push. Gateway also plans regional exploration at its Glenburgh South and Barrelmaker projects, while reserving part of the proceeds for placement costs, corporate expenses and general working capital. The company has stated that its intended use of funds may change as circumstances develop.

For shareholders, the raising creates a clear trade-off: a much better-funded exploration program, but a substantial issue of new shares at a discount. The near-term test is whether the enlarged drilling budget can convert Cowza’s encouraging high-grade results and the broader 13-kilometre corridor into repeatable mineralisation and, eventually, a resource estimate.

Bottom Line?

Gateway now has the funding to turn Yandal’s exploration story into a much larger dataset, but the value of the raising will depend on whether drilling converts promising intercepts into a defined resource.

Questions in the middle?

  • Can follow-up drilling demonstrate continuity and scale at Cowza beyond the reported high-grade intercept?
  • How much of the planned drilling will be directed to Cowza versus the other Yandal prospects?
  • Will future resource estimation support the company’s description of Yandal as a multi-million-ounce gold camp?
