Marimaca Copper Finds More High-Grade Continuity at Pampa Medina
Marimaca Copper has reported a 216-metre sulphide intersection grading 0.96% copper and 7.2g/t silver at Pampa Medina, including 62 metres at 2.20% copper and 21.5g/t silver. Step-out drilling also extended mineralised horizons beyond the central zone, while diamond drilling is now testing deeper ground to the north and northwest.

SPRD-15 Delivers Thick High-Grade Sulphide Zone
The latest drilling at Marimaca Copper Corp. (ASX:MC2; TSX:MARI) has produced the kind of interval exploration companies hope will become routine: 216 metres grading 0.96% copper and 7.2g/t silver from 466 metres at the Pampa Medina deposit in Chile. Within that run, SPRD-15 returned 62 metres at 2.20% copper and 21.5g/t silver from 602 metres, including 14 metres at 3.05% copper and 26.7g/t silver.
The strongest internal sections were separated by only modest distances downhole. A 12-metre interval returned 3.25% copper and 36.7g/t silver from 632 metres, while a separate six-metre zone higher in the hole graded 2.00% copper and 12.0g/t silver. The company says drilling on 150-metre centres is continuing to validate the continuity of thick, stacked sulphide mantos across Pampa Medina’s central area of interest.
Step-Out Holes Push Mineralisation Beyond the Core
The result is not standing alone. SPRD-12, drilled 300 metres west of previous drilling, intersected 56 metres at 0.95% copper and 4.2g/t silver from 748 metres, including 22 metres at 1.80% copper and 9.7g/t silver. SPRD-17, positioned 150 metres east of an earlier hole, cut multiple sulphide mantos across 104 metres at 0.65% copper, with a 20-metre section grading 1.28% copper and 2.3g/t silver.
To the southeast, SPD-13 extended both the historical oxide zone and the newer sulphide mineralisation. Its 222-metre interval averaged 0.50% copper from 194 metres, including 48 metres at 1.05% copper and 12 metres at 1.99% copper. The company also reported sulphide zones in SPRD-10, including 28 metres at 0.88% copper and 5.4g/t silver, with a 16-metre higher-grade section at 1.37% copper and 8.5g/t silver.
Deeper Targets Face Drilling Limits
The expansion story has a practical complication. Scout reverse-circulation holes to the north and northwest did not always reach the target sedimentary horizons, which appear to deepen in those directions. SWR-13 ended in mineralisation at the limits of RC drilling, returning eight metres at 1.47% copper and 7.5g/t silver, while SWR-12A intersected the sedimentary horizon at greater depth and returned eight metres at 1.17% copper and 11.8g/t silver.
Diamond drilling is now extending those holes to test the deeper horizons. Other holes were affected by post-mineralisation faults and dykes, including SPRD-14, SPRD-16A and SMRD-35, while several scout holes did not intersect the intended sedimentary sequence. Those results do not negate the stronger intersections, but they underline that the geometry of the system is still being worked out rather than fully defined.
Results Remain Exploration-Stage
Pampa Medina lies about 28 kilometres east of Marimaca’s Marimaca Oxide Deposit within the broader Sierra de Medina property. The deposit is hosted mainly in Jurassic-Triassic sedimentary units, with copper occurring in both near-surface oxide and deeper sulphide zones. The reported intervals are downhole lengths, with true widths estimated at approximately 80%, and the release reports exploration results rather than a mineral resource estimate or economic study.
That distinction matters as the drilling footprint grows. The current results provide evidence of grade continuity and extensions across the tested sections, but resource classification will require tighter geological and grade control, followed by modelling and further technical work. The immediate catalyst is therefore not a production decision; it is whether the diamond tails can confirm the deeper northern and northwestern extensions without losing the thickness and grade seen in the central zone.
